"Fox News host Sean Hannity tore into The New York Times and its recent coverage of the behind-the-scenes drama at the right-wing cable network. But his harshest words may have been aimed at his colleague, Tucker Carlson.

This week, New York Times columnist Ben Smith said Carlson dishes out off-the-record gossip about the network, former President Donald Trump and other topics to reporters, calling his willingness to spill tea “one of Washington’s open secrets.” Sixteen journalists at other news outlets confirmed to Smith that Carlson had been a source.

On Thursday, Smith shared a report from the Pop Bitch gossip column that one of the topics Carlson liked to dish about was Hannity “and how much of a cringing Trump sycophant Sean is.” "

It's good to see the "snake fight begin", hopefully they will devour each other.

Two snakes already gone, including Limbaugh, and Bill O'Reilly, as his sexual predatory background exposed him. Now, these two "snakes" Hannity and Carlson, will hopefully devour each other and then some of the others will likely get into their savage fest too.

Trump attacked FOX when it would not cover for his BS, but what's crazy is the "drama junkies" still didn't get the message that FOX is pure bullshit itself that exists only to feed fiction, belligerence, and antagonistic drama inciting madness among its viewers.

At some point the advertisers will figure out they will become impacted for indirectly promoting this stuff. As Faux PseudoNews will come to find out that its followers will continue to get old, it will likely fade out like Sears did, because it refused to change from the model that catered to an aged population that no longer shopped as they did when they were younger, and young people did not want the polyester that Sears resulted to be known for selling. Just as young people are learning not to devote themselves to the "malice making belligerence promoting, attack something" agenda that Faux PseudoNews peddles.

This interview appears to be a disaster - for the president.

While I will reserve total judgment until I see the whole thing, certainly this exchange, one of several already released, portrays the president as petulant, stupid, a braggart, and unaware of the world in which he exists.

Chris Wallace Gets Into Exchange With Donald Trump Over Just How Hard It Is To Take A Cognitive Test

“They have a picture and it says ‘what’s that and it’s an elephant,” Wallace said.
Trump, though, challenged him on that point, calling it a “misrepresentation.”
“Because, yes, the first few questions are easy, but I’ll bet you couldn’t even answer the last five questions. I’ll bet you couldn’t, they get very hard, the last five questions,” he said.
“Well, one of them was count back from 100 by seven,” Wallace said.
“Let me tell you…” Trump said.
“Ninety three,” Wallace responded.
Trump then said “you couldn’t answer many of the questions.”
“OK, what’s the question?” Wallace said.
“I’ll get you the test. I’d like to give it. I’ll guarantee you that Joe Biden could not answer those questions. And I answered all 35 questions correctly,” Trump insisted.

Though the president may be a pathological liar, simply incapable of telling the truth, perhaps one of the stupidest things his staff ever did was allow him to wander outside the safety of a Hannity-esque interview.

The worm has turned. It was only a matter of time before this regime began to eat itself.

Trump Rages At Fox News, Says It’s Now Worse Than ‘Fake News CNN’

That eating could not happen to anyone more deserving - it will be a circular firing squad from now until election day among the GOP. The fact Trump, who can thank Fox "News" for a lot of his chance to be elected in 2016 - now is attacking the same network, tells how serious this have become, and how Fox might try to distance itself from the whole Trump circus.

Their bottom-line is, well, the bottom-line here. And we're talking long-term. They're looking after their future, the one beyond Trump.

Tbh, Fox has always had a few folks that still qualify as journalists, Shep Smith, Chris Wallace, Bret Baier, they have a couple more as well. They will all, on occasion, stray from the standard Fox talking points and at least remotely try to address facts and the real world. Perhaps they envision a life after Fox. I don't know... but those are the folks that put the big knot in Trump's knickers. I guess he should have stuck with Hannity, Carlson and Fox&Friends. Oh well.. hate it for him.

In other thoughts, why the hell is he watching cable TV in the weekend? Shouldn't he be spending time between golf and his little son? (If Melania would even allow him anywhere near Barron, that is).

Wow, this bitch is just stone crazy. She's the epitome of an attention whore, and apparently it's working. Her being in the news is not even relevant any more, and yet here she is again.

When I read about this the other day, instead of considering it newsworthy, I really felt sorry for her. She has no purpose and she knows it. Much like Trump, she's trying to get America AND TRUMP to justify her relevance and her sheer reason for existance - and it's become clear at this point that she has none.

Right-wing pundit Ann Coulter condemned over 'racist' tweets about Asian reporter

..."What's the upside of admitting 250,000 poor, culturally backward, non-English-speaking Muslims every year? We want remarkable Americans, not immigrants whose selling point is: 'hasn't blown anything up yet'.”

I remember her version of dick wagging on Bill Maher's Politically Incorrect show. Later, on his HBO show, I was watching when she said we should nuke the Middle East, and convert the survivors to Christianity... Other times, she's gone on her smarmy 'liberals want to kill Americans' screed... Maher said they used to be friends, used to go out drinking together. He said she used to be funny, but then she began to believe her own bullshit.

And now she has completely jumped the shark.

Bill Cosby, Donald Trump and Bill O’Reilly walk into a bar. Trump says, "Let's start grabbing them by the p***y and see where that takes us." Cosby replies, "Do they need to be awake for that?" O'Reilly responds, "Of course they need to be awake. How else will they tell me how incredible I am?"

Advertisers Are Ditching Bill O’Reilly Over Harassment Allegations
More than two dozen companies are pulling ads from the most-watched cable-news show amid yet another scandal at Fox News.

Let me see if I have this straight: the FOX News network, the home of the short-skirted, plunging-necklined, leggy and bubble-headed Barbie doll anchors, has a raging undercurrent of sexual harassment that apparently fermented a culture of crude and lascivious behavior amongst its upper echelon of male personalities? Go figure. It's like The Playboy Channel trying to do the daily news sometimes, heh?

On the other hand, Limbaugh survived a similar (temporary) advertiser exodus. And as a matter of fact, no one who watches Fox News, which is arguably half the nation, even cares about this issue. Bill is as popular as ever, and this scandals and the ones that are sure to follow, will probably make him even more so as viewers flock to his program, in a show of solidarity against their liberal enemies.

And so it shall go on.

Curious how things quickly turn around, as soon as they don't happen to match the official partisan narrative of your political camp. So, big guvmint = bad; but big police state = good. Got it.

Civil War Breaks Out Over Rand Paul On Fox's 'The Five'

The predictable reactions from the mainstream Republicans to his 13-hour filibuster effort aside, evidently, Rand Paul is suddenly being declared "sad and disgusting" for wanting to stay consistent with the small-government principle that libertarians are supposed to espouse, and wanting to end a massive surveillance practice that has proven absolutely useless.

"You believe in the Second Amendment, why not the Fourth Amendment?" -- Geraldo "Women Mostly Bring Their Youth To A Marriage" Rivera. Yeah right! Let's measure whose amendment is bigger!

I also love how they used Hillary Clinton as a scarecrow. What if she wins the presidency? Would it be OK if she had control over all those massifs of intel, mhmmm? Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

It's going to be morbidly fascinating to observe how FOX is almost certainly going to employ its entire propaganda machine in an effort to destroy one of the right-wing's brightest political fighters now. Sean "The Constitution Doesn't Mention Separation of Church and State" Hannity was quick to go after him on his show, and of course we all know Hannity would lick the boots of any GOPer who ever shows up on his show. And, since FOX, although lying most of the time, does largely direct the narrative on the right, you may well write off Rand Paul's candidacy at this point.

And some chap called Carl Bernstein has produced an article for amongst others the Grauniad about Murdoch and Ailes attempting to get General Petraeus to run for President.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/2012/dec/20/bernstein-murdoch-ailes-petreaus-presidency

Of course, I have to quote a smidgeon, being who I am.

"McFarland clarified the terms: "The big boss is bankrolling it. Roger's going to run it. And the rest of us are going to be your in-house" – thereby confirming what Fox New critics have consistently maintained about the network's faux-news agenda and its built-in ideological bias.

And here let us posit the following: were an emissary of the president of NBC News, or of the editor of the New York Times or the Washington Post ever caught on tape promising what Ailes and Murdoch had apparently suggested and offered here, the hue and cry, especially from Fox News and Republican/Tea Party America, from the Congress to the US Chamber of Commerce to the Heritage Foundation, would be deafening and not be subdued until there was a congressional investigation, and the resignations were in hand of the editor and publisher of the network or newspaper. Or until there had been plausible and convincing evidence that the most important elements of the story were false. And, of course, the story would continue day after day on page one and remain near the top of the evening news for weeks, until every ounce of (justifiable) piety about freedom of the press and unfettered presidential elections had been exhausted."

Now David Petraeus doesn't to me seem too bad a chap. Obviously got into a spot of bother about keeping his trousers on, but aside from that an infinitely better choice than Mitt the dog-lover, or Santorum, the après-sex bodily exudation. But even so, it's the process that fascinates me. Imagine the scene:

Media Baron of unrivalled wealth, power, and influence: "I like the cut of that chap's jib. Let's buy him and make him president."

Servile lickspittle of a toadying nature very high in the confidence of Sauron Mouth of Murdoch: "As you say, my Lord. I'll get a Balrog McFarland on it right away."

[livejournal.com profile] pastorlenny reminded me the other day that money is speech, and free speech costs much more than the ordinary person can lay their hands on. So, given that it is Friday, I have a modest proposal: I think free speech can be monetized. Folk who are too poor, too stupid, or not glamorous enough to have "Free Speech" shall be denied access to it. They won't be able to air opinions unless they can prove that they are, I don't know, let us say, newspaper owners, Radio and TV station magnates, interweb moguls, advertising executives, or folk conversant with the law, or in possession of extremely large bank balances: excepting in rare circumstances of being an accessory to a newsworthy item.

I think that should solve all the problems there and then. Who wants to step on Rupert's toes, after all?

So says the man just convicted for setting fire to a mosque.

The man was apparently drunk when he did it, but he doesn't seem very remorseful now that he's sober.

'Muslims are killing Americans and trying to blow stuff up,' Linn also reportedly told the judge. 'Most Muslims are terrorists and don’t believe in Jesus Christ.'

How does he know this? Fox News and Talk Radio.

How much longer are people going to cling to the fiction -- supposedly put to rest in the 20th century -- that there is no connection between violent language aimed at unpopular groups and violent acts committed against those groups?

Daily Show: Fox Denies War On Women But Finds Wars On Just About Everything Else

O, behold! Some classic stuff from the amazing Fox News, here summarized by Stewart. The mind-bending hypocrisy and stupidity of the Fox hacks who erroneously call themselves a "news" organization.

So, according to Fox News, there's no war on women... BUT there's a war on... watch out...

Christmas...
Easter...
Fall holidays...
Halloween...
Fossil fuels...
The Constitution...
Ladies Night...
Fishermen...
Salt...
Chocolate milk...
Sugary drinks...
Food...
Spuds...
...and of course, where without it, the War on conservative Women!

Well, that at least means some women are included!

HURT: Why Use ‘Despicable,’ Clueless Left-Wing Media to Moderate GOP Debates?

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. — There is growing consternation in Republican circles and among conservatives over why Republicans keep allowing the various Communist, leftist and otherwise anti-American TV networks to host GOP debates.

The ickiness of Diana Sawyer asking questions in her cloying voice is more than most can bear. The utter cluelessness of the questions these people think actual American voters care about is mystifying. The shameless and ham-handed pandering to conservatives by the networks is revolting.

Indeed, the entire phoenix rising candidacy of former House Speaker Newt Gingrich can be attributed to America’s abject hatred of the left-wing media. He was destitute and written off by the press when he tapped into one of the most visceral political reactions coursing through the veins of regular Americans. And once be began beating up the media, America gathered around him.

Last night, we saw once again why Republicans need to keep allowing fakers and Communists to moderate their GOP debates. Because without the leftist, elitist snobs to beat the ever-living crap out of every couple of weeks, the debates would be so much less fun.

COMMUNIST television networks? Diane Sawyer is anti-american? People support Newt because they hate the liberal media? How can people read this kind of crap and not die from hyperbole poisoning?

The simple fact is that the GOP cannot exist as an island. Without appealing to the moderates, they will most likely never have enough support to win the presidency. And despite what the pundits would have you believe, our media is moderate.

From Fox & Friends Weekend:

Allisyn Camerota: Meanwhile, we have to tell you this crazy story from the Occupy Wall Street (inhales, as if trying to maintain control of herself) gang. There is a Florida mother of four children. Dave Briggs: I want to reiterate what Allie mentioned, this 38-year-old Hessler mother of four says ‘Military people leave their families all the time, so why should I feel bad? I’m fighting for a better world.’ That is more disgusting than any of the, filth, down there on Wall Street…

A few days ago, comic genius Jon Stewart elaborated in greater detail a point he made after his interview with Chris Wallace on Fox News: the ability of insular logic that is self fulfilling; a logic that was tighter than an otter's sphincter (Stewart's words) concluding "That narrative of conservative victimization is the true genius of what Fox News has accomplished."

But this week, after the dust had settled on the Norway massacre using the launch pin Anders Breivik's Christian beliefs and his extreme right wing world view: Stewart returned to that theme of "conservative victimization," showing examples from several well known conservative editorial writers, authors and TV personalities (all on Fox News) whining about the unfair treatment conservative (and Christian) Americans receive at the hands of the meanie pants liberals. The pay-off is a clip from Sean Hannity saying he doesn't hear conservatives criticizing liberals with the same vitriol. Stewart's reaction? That is, if I may say, some of the most free-range, organically grown, disingenuous, ideologically marinated, un-self-awareness I've ever seen in the wild. Watch the clip. Stewart offers some of the most insightful analysis of the media in this country, and his comic genius is making that both fun to watch and in my opinion, spot on.

Jon Stewart made his first appearance on a Sunday morning political show, appearing on Fox News Sunday with Chris Wallace (incidentally one of the lowest rated Sunday morning shows; Meet the Press with David Gregory is the highest rated). During the course of his interview, Stewart said "Who are the most consistently misinformed media viewers? … Fox viewers, consistently, every poll." Turns out Stewart was wrong according to Politifact (a website that checks politicians/ electoral candidates' statements, but also will analyze media coverage of specific news stories). While it was true that in two surveys, Fox News viewers were the least informed and in some others "merely near the bottom," but Politifact noted that on some specific news stories-- Fox News viewers viewers were occasionally more informed that Daily Show viewers (but not other media outlets). So ultimately, Politifact declared Stewart's statement "False." Stewart made a public apology, saying it would be highly irresponsible not to issue a correction in good faith.

Then the fun began )

So FoxNews isn't coming to Canada after all because the CRTC requires that "a licenser may not broadcast....any false or misleading news."

I'm of two minds on this issue. First I'm against censorship. I like everything and all available and can turn the channel if I don't like. I think it's a slippery slope. Will John Stewart be next for his parody of news? What about Art Bell (or whatever it's called now) that has news on UFO's, conspiracy and other false news?

That said, a news channel purporting to be a straight news channel (fair and balanced even) that is anything but seems to cross a line.

Bias we can handle. CBC has bias, as does SunMedia. It's the lies and misinformation that seems to have been the main issue with broadcasting regulators.

Do they really fib on FoxNews? I can't say I've ever really watched it except for OReilly and whatever you guys link to.

Media is very powerful. Fox contributed much to report on WMD's in Iraq. Fox seems to be part responsible for the Tea Party movement and generally polarizing the USA along political/idelogical lines. I am much more nervous about Fox then AlJazeera.

Do you think the CRTC has gone too far? Do you think it was a fair call? What about RobKennedyJr's comments?

Glenn Beck puts liberal prof.’s life in danger.

The New York Times wrote an article today about Glenn Beck and how he is putting a professor’s life in danger  with his hate speech. I found it interesting.

Frances Fox Piven , a City University of New York professor, has been a primary character in Mr. Beck’s warnings about a progressive take-down of America. Ms. Piven, Mr. Beck says, is responsible for a plan to “intentionally collapse our economic system.”

Her name has become a kind of shorthand for “enemy” on Mr. Beck’s Fox News Channel program, which is watched by more than 2 million people, and on one of his Web sites, The Blaze. This week, Mr. Beck suggested on television that she was an enemy of the Constitution.

Never mind that Ms. Piven’s radical plan to help poor people was published 45 years ago, when Mr. Beck was a toddler. Anonymous visitors to his Web site have called for her death, and some, she said, have contacted her directly via e-mail.

In response, a liberal nonprofit group, the Center for Constitutional Rights, wrote to the chairman of Fox News, Roger Ailes, on Thursday to ask him to put a stop to Mr. Beck’s “false accusations” about Ms. Piven.

The argument is that Piven is no longer a radical and that what she wrote 45 years ago shoudn’t make her a threat today. Kind of like Bill Ayers, the softer cuddly side of radicalism; after all they are old people now!

But…she has called for violence as recently as 12-10-2010, in the article she wrote for The Nation: mobilizing-jobless:

It is clear that this professor is advocating violence. Legally I don’t think she is inciting violence but, does Glenn Beck’s exposure of what Frances Fox Piven said both 40 some years ago and back in December of last year hold him responsible for threats she has received? Is the New York Times being responsible in its journalistic pursuits by presenting the story the way they did?

There is an article at NoFactZone by DB that needs to be read. The short of it is that Bill O'Reilly was piss off with Colbert because of
this. O'Reilly didnt waste time on attacking the poor while attempting to defend his willfully ignorant, borderline heretical, self justification of being a Christian Grinch during the Christmas Season.

So Bill made  whole segment about how Bill and Stephen have a different interpretation of the Bible and how Stephen Colbert's interpretation is wrong, but it didnt stop there. With the Ann Coulter interview they created this narrative that the only reason Stephen Colbert brought the message of Christian charity on his show was to guilt trip the rest of the world to "give and give" while he "does nothing", she even declared that the only time Stephen gave money away was to pay the IRS.

You can say alot about Stephen Colbert, but if you are going to attack him regarding his lack of charitable works, Ann Coulter should fire whoever is feeding her this information.

Stephen Colbert and his fans have helped to raise a lot of money over the years. This is a list of his works, and this is not even counting other minor works that he has done lately for others:

The total amount is $1,493,336, so Stephen Colbert and his loyal fans helped donate one and a half million dollars for charitable organizations; Stephen is even a board member of DonorsChoose. Unless of course there is some unwritten rule that says unless you give away two million dollars it wont count as an act of charity.

If Bill O'Reilly wants to discuss theology with Stephen Colbert, that's fine, Stephen is a Sunday School Teacher and he has no problem in doing that. As a matter of fact he has nailed a lot of his guests on matters of scripture.

"I like talking about people who don't have any power. And this seemed like one of the least powerful people in the United States are migrant workers who come and do our work but don't have any rights as a result. And yet, we still invite them to come here and at the same time ask them to leave. And that's an interesting contradiction to me and, you know, "whatsoever you do for the least of my brothers"... These seem like the lest of our brothers right now -- a Lot of people are "least brothers" right now because the economy's so hard and I don't want to take anyone's hardship away from them or diminish it or anything like that -- but migrant workers suffer... and have no rights."
-- Stephen Colbert, 2010 Congressional Testimony.

Bill O’Reilly on Christ’s Message on the Poor:

I know that while Jesus promoted charity at the highest level, he was not self-destructive.

The Lord helps those who help themselves. Does he not?

From the Gospel According to O’Reilly 19:20-22 (New Fox Version, ©2010)

“All the commandments I have kept,” the young man said. “What do I still lack for eternal life?”

Jesus answered, “If you want to be perfect, acquire as many possessions as possible, occasionally giving a modest amount to a respectable charity that will only give to those poor who deserve help. Then come follow me, because we could really use some contributors. Foot oil, loaves, fishes, and wine don’t pay for themselves, you know.”

When the young man heard this, he went away sad, because he had already frittered away a great deal of his wealth on helping lepers, beggars, cripples and other deadbeats.

Then Jesus said to his disciples, “Truly I tell you, there’s a capacity problem for compassion. Helping the poor is one thing, but if you open your door to those people, they’ll tear the place up.

Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is poor to enter the kingdom of God. The Lord helps those who help themselves.”

Fox News are the masters of Narrative. Fiction writes can write a good story and it doesnt have to be real but sound like it is real and possible. If fiction writers can write a masterpiece then Fox News has found a way to make their fiction into a reality that is accepted by the masses. It doesnt matter how many times you yell Fox News is lying, if they are good story tellers, people are going to watch and listen to their voices and believe their stories as if they are real. Not because they are, but because their stories are powerful and resonates to their "Inner Fantasy That they Confuse as Reality".

You cannot defeat Fox News by creating a leftwing/progressive version of Fox (you cant MSNBC, deal with it) it only emboldens and validates their message and their way of doing business.

Stewart's point is that actual news organizations (which his show is not and shouldn't have to be) should be completely nonpartisan and more investigative and "journalistic".
