Trump on womenDespite the chaos and misery of Trump's first term in office, his recent re-election bodes an extreme, tumultuous, and dangerous next four years. This is not just the case for the United States, where it will have the greatest and most immediate effect, but also with other advanced economies in Europe and Australia; the far right is already ascendent in France and Germany, and it is likely to gain power in Australia. In all these cases, the success of the far-right will come from populism aimed at disenfranchised voters with lower levels of education and wealth, the collapse of the centre-right, and an ongoing identity crisis in social democracy.

The current and future far-right demagogues that will rule the world in the foreseeable future will enact a program of punishment toward their opposition, reward their favourites (regardless of legality), engage in a culture war against minorities, and, with great awareness of their ironic punishment of their supporters, engage in a wealth transfer from the lower and middle classes to their business allies. It is more than plausible that they will, given the opportunity, transform into a militaristic socialisation of labour in the interests of national capital. That is, a war of aggression against the developing world. Understanding this trajectory suggests not only the dire need for organised and effective political strategy but also a working reconsideration of democracy to prevent another rise of reactionary extremism.

Kakistocracy: Rule of the Worst

A characteristic of extremist States that operate with authoritarian and totalitarian agendas is the need for constant violence and chaos of varying levels. The concern that the Trump administration, having captured the institutions of governance, could transform into a fascist regime is far from hyperbole. If they do so, it will come with the spectre of war, and one which hawkish commentators have been already ear-marked 2027 for a potential conflict with the People's Republic of China and the Republic of China over Taiwan. Such a war almost certainly will not eventuate, but the possibility can be used as an excuse to crush what remains of the one body that is capable of stopping the crushing rule of the far-right: an already weakened organised labour.

Of course, the rise of this international demagoguery is a sign of the times, a combination of social media rumours that circulate without responsibility among those least able to asses their validity and a major selection of the rentier-capitalist elite who are only capable of aggrandisement at the expense of others. The control of the former over the latter is the fundamental cause of our current circumstances; developing political economies and processes that prevent such a coup from ever occurring again is a subject for further inquiry. At the moment, one is ultimately reminded that politics is primarily determined by extra-parliamentary means, with the law and institutions dragging rather than leading. Strap yourself in and show solidarity to all, for this is going to be an extremely rough next four years, the worst in living memory.

How about dragging Steve Bannon off to the The Hague for international criminal conduct?

This is what happens when people actually start listening to the drunk guy ranting and raving at the end of the bar. The guy who tells everyone what is what and has been uniformly ignored for centuries. Not now. Now, we call him Steve Bannon. Cheers Steve. Do another shot for the revolution:

How Trump's allies stoked Brazil Congress attack

Steve Bannon calls Bolsonaro protesters ‘freedom fighters’

After a free and fair election they're hardly freedom fighters, are they Bannon? When the incumbent loses it's the best indicator of a free and fair election there is if you ask me! That is why when Trump lost, he definitely lost - it's the people in power who have the most opportunity to fix it, not the party out of power - as we saw with Trump and as we are seeing with Bolsonaro they are definitely trying to fix the result by using violence, not the ballot.

Bannon, Trump and the rest of these anti-civilization haters of everything should be put on trial for crimes against humanity and treason. And the people who funnel money into them should stand right next to them, whenever we can find them. You foment unrest and hate and fear and try to destabilize the world, you own it and face the consequences. You don't tell us you're not REALLY stirring up one violent uprising against democracy after another... AS YOU'RE DOING IT. And then expect us to pretend to be so stupid we can't tell, right?

Are these people to ever be held accountable?

This seems to be big. The plan had been in the making for more than a year, and the crackdown on this conspiracy has been well planned and massive:

Germany arrests 25 suspected far-right extremists for plotting to overthrow government

One thing I don't get, though.

How is it even possible for someone to contemplate implementing such a plan? I mean, is it possible in today's world in a functioning democracy to overthrow a government and establish a new regime by storming the parliament?

Okay, you'd get some hostages from amongst the MPs. Okay, maybe you'd cause a stir and some chaos and place some demands. But how would you expect the whole state apparatus, along with all state institutions, all services (police, intelligence, military) to play along? They'd somehow suddenly all agree to obey you!? Come on!

How would 25-odd people expect that tens of millions of citizens would somehow suddenly start praising your pipe-dream of a Fourth Reich?

What planet are these guys living on?

Also, why am I not surprised that it's the Far Right doing all this?

An infamous, conservative Christian radio host has died from Covid-19. Bob Enyart, 62, will be remembered by some for mocking those who died of AIDS. He used to read out AIDS-related obituaries on his TV show, Bob Enyart Live, in the 90s while playing Queen’s ‘Another One Bites The Dust’.

Anti-vax radio host who “gleefully” mocked AIDS victims on-air dies of COVID-19

So he used his TV show to mock people who died from AIDS? And he railed against vaccines and masks? Good riddance, you fake Christian POS. Thoughts and prayers to all the suckers who took you seriously, may they learn something from your death.
Sorry, can't feel sorry for the man. Another one bites the dust, I guess.

On a side note, isn't it weird that this virus is going after radio hosts, specifically? Wow that's crazy man. On a second thought, radio hosts sit on their fat asses all day so they are obese. In the UK for example, a report flags that out of 10,465 patients critically ill with confirmed COVID-19, 73.7% were overweight or obese. Quite frankly I'm surprised that so many Americans have avoided getting critically ill from COVID as the entire nation needs to go on a diet.

We captioned the video of Montana Man telling Tucker Carlson he is "the worst human being known to mankind" so you can experience it in all its glory.

https://www.instagram.com/p/CRr-e6Wj_8R/

And predictably shits himself.

I'm typically not a fan of people going after celebs or politicians in public. But in this case Tucker is responsible for thousands of deaths all in an attempt to get better ratings. He deserves everything he gets. I hope to see more of this against right wing assholes.

Considering how much hate Tucker has thrown around down the years I see no problem here. He knows he has influence and doesn't use it in a positive way but decides to spout lies and conspiracy theories instead and yes, he is indeed dangerous.

If anyone has refused to take the vaccine because of his advice and later died he should think about that long and hard. Tucker has been a champion for Trump and all the terrible stuff he did and his interview style is both vile and simply doesn't allow someone to respond to his accusations without him cutting them off the second they start making a valid point.

The guy does not deserve to be on TV.

PS: THIS exact scenario should play out everywhere anytime that garbage person crawls into public.

And the impure blood is about to spill...

French soldiers warn of civil war in new letter
A new open letter has been published in France warning of the threat of civil war and claiming to have more than 130,000 signatures from the public. The message, published in a right-wing magazine, accuses the French government of granting "concessions" to Islamism.

Well, it's Valeurs Actuelles, ie a bit like Fox News - Tucker Carlson, so you have to read it with a certain distance, a certain critical spirit.

On the other hand, I don't think that this can be read as a warning of a coming revolution but rather of the possibility of the advent of a political list made up of military personnel and that we shouldn't be surprised if a certain General de Villiers (who is multiplying books with a political tendency) were to run and win the next presidential elections. That same Villiers who was sacked by Macron. Because he literally said he didn't care about his orders. They can talk about respecting the "value" but what they're doing is pushing the far right agenda, plain and simple.

I see this as trouble both for Macron and Le Pen, frankly.

Oh, and just for some context )

Extremists discuss plans to 'remove Democratic lawmakers' on March 4, FBI-Homeland Security bulletin warns

https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/extremists-discussed-plans-remove-democratic-lawmakers-fbi-homeland-security-bulletin-n1259467?cid=eml_nbn_20210303

These various sub groups in society have been unleashed... and emboldened. And have become a serious threat, as they are fanatical in nature and behavior. They are not just a social problem, but also a security issue.

What should have happened is, thousands of troops should have been deployed on Jan 6, sealed all the exits, and arrested every single person inside the Capitol building.

Of course they're emboldened! They stormed the Capitol and then walked right out again. The ones smart enough to wear masks and leave their cellphones outside mostly still haven't even been identified. Heck, half the people who weren't smart enough to even do that still haven't been identified or arrested. Of course they are feeling bold! Their champion is having statues of gold erected for him, and half the GOP are still bowing to him. What do you expect?

History tends to serve us "significant coincidences" much more frequently than we might suspect. Coincidences of the type that Karl Jung once described, like two geographically separate events seemingly sharing no causal relation between themselves, but in essence carrying the same meaning. Synchronicity is a term that Jung coined in the 50s of the 20th century, and it's becoming more relevant now than ever. Does this mean humankind is slowly getting wiser, and seeing what lies beneath the surface, I don't know.

Why am I talking about Jung, you may wonder. I was reminded of these concepts while witnessing two events separated by thousands of miles. One was Donald Trump's turbulent fall-down at the US elections. The other, Alexei Navalny's predictable ordeal upon returning to Russia. I'd argue these two visible events are consequences of a third one, happening a bit beneath the surface. The twilight of wannabe authoritarian populists in the early 21st century.

This was supposed to be a "funny" piece but it's mostly become a rant. Mostly directed at a certain segment of society, calling themselves various names, from "conservative" to "truther". It was supposed to be funny, mostly due to the nature of the subject, and because of the sheer amount of stupidity that's just begging to be mocked. But no, I've no desire for LULz right now. The amount of stupidity among those people has passed the point of LULzworthiness. It's not funny. It's scary. And frightening. Much scarier than the pandemic, actually. Can't joke about this. Not now.

Illiteracy and ignorance has become trendy and dandy. Ignorant public gurus are lecturing people about stuff they know jack shit about. Illiterate "teachers" are teaching the illiterate kids of semi-literate parents.

Violence-prone folks, wannabe fascists, closet neo-Nazis, unapologetic racists are calling for riots, and they've decided they could get what they want by crying as loud as they can that they're having their freedom of speech assaulted.

It's early to assume things at this point of course, but suppose Trump does go away.

My biggest concern is about all those people whom Trump has now convinced that the US democratic process is basically a sham - what are they going to do once he is gone, and there is no one to tell them via Twitter what to do? Start a revolution? Wait for him to come back in 4 years? Start a new movement? Stay quiet?

How do they vent out all that confusion and distrust and frustration that has been building up, and that their champion has helped foster? I don't want to sound crazy, but this all terribly seems like the perfect ground for breeding the next Hitlers and Mussolinis.

There is a lot of navel-gazing and wound-healing that has to be done over there in America. And I'm not seeing a lot of effort in that direction. Not yet, anyway.

Backhoe thief drove through Florida town allegedly digging up Biden-Harris campaign signs
"James Blight was arrested in Haines City, Florida, for allegedly stealing a backhoe to dig up the yards and vandalize the homes of people displaying Joe Biden signs."

Yeah well. That'll show'em bloody liburls!

Well now we know Florida Man is a Republican - who would've ever guessed that. James Blight was charged with grand theft auto and trespassing - he should also be charged with destruction of property, drunk driving and reckless endangerment, and probably also with committing a hate crime. Unfortunately, stupidity isn't a crime.

I'm particularly amused by the irony of being a conservative and not respecting private property in the meantime.

It's Florida so realistically, they'll probably charge him with DWI, dismiss the rest, and tell him next time don't drink when you destroy Biden signs. ;-)

That said, it appears Trump fans are getting progressively* frustrated. They must know they're losing.

Who would've thought removing the sign doesn't remove the support. Just like not testing doesn't get rid of the virus.

And all of the claims and counter-claims I find I rather prefer data. Then I came across this:

www.theguardian.com/world/2020/oct/22/white-supremacists-rightwing-domestic-terror-2020

Wherein we find that the Center for Strategic and International Studies (an American centrist think tank - so one neither right nor left) who have collected domestic terrorist activity data stretching back to 1994 finds that for the year 2020 that "White supremacists and other rightwing extremists have been responsible for 67% of domestic terror attacks and plots so far this year" and the extreme left bats at around 20%.

Is that any sort of revelation to people on here?

So the main question now is if Trump doesn't go quietly, or the election is in the balance and before the previously-packed Supreme Court; will the extreme right be able to keep its guns in their holsters? It's almost a question from that game we sometimes play on here where every option is a bad one.

(Mind you, this is not as complicated as the lunatic zugzwang of Brexit; just much more ultraviolent and on a larger scale.)

Plans to kidnap Whitmer, overthrow government spoiled, officials say

"The FBI thwarted what they described as a plot to violently overthrow the government and kidnap Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer and federal prosecutors are expected to discuss the alleged conspiracy later Thursday. The alleged plot involved reaching out to members of a Michigan militia, according to a federal affidavit filed Thursday. "Several members talked about murdering 'tyrants' or 'taking' a sitting governor," an FBI agent wrote in the affidavit. "The group decided they needed to increase their numbers and encouraged each other to talk to their neighbors and spread their message.""

This is why it's important for Trump to forcefully condemn the far-right militia groups, white supremacist groups, and others. Instead, he does this:

‘Very good people’: Trump backs armed effort to storm Michigan capitol over coronavirus rules

At this point, I think violence by the lunatic far-right is inevitable given how Trump has framed the mail-in ballot aspect of the election. Hopefully, the violence will be constrained to a few sporadic terrorist attacks and won't result in large-scale unrest.

This is why the DHS labeled right-wing terrorists as the biggest domestic threat.

Images from a militia occupation, because these gun nuts and assorted Trump supporters are too stupid to understand science:

They sure seem like nice happy go lucky folks. Now imagine the same scene with armed black men screaming in the face of the cops.

While we're about "spontaneous" protests against the lockdown...

Right-wing militia group threatens police at protests: Stop enforcing laws or else

What a bunch of losers.

This is just crazy... 65K dead of Corona in the US, and armed thugs in the parlament building. I am glad that I do not live there. These guys are the same people who shoot tornadoes... Little to no brain rednecks who adore Trump. Maybe they should follow their president's recommendation and get loaded with bleach and be done with it.

Just imagine if those guys were black, they would have all been shot instantly.

But seriously. So, they are no longer protesters. They are now terrorists and should be treated as such. Threatening law enforcement and elected officials at the expense of the general public. That sounds like terrorism to me.

Our Presumpident Trump went off his meds again today.  As the New York Times put it, he "on Friday began openly fomenting right-wing protests of social distancing restrictions in [three] states where groups of his conservative supporters have been violating stay-at-home orders."  Yes, these people have been gathering in numbers to protest being told not to gather in numbers.  And he is urging them on, which may lead to them gathering in larger numbers.

Do you see a possibility of unintended consequences here?

The larger the groups, the greater the likelihood that some who attend are already infected with the coronavirus.  Thus, the greater the likelihood that they will infect some of their fellow attenders.

The latter victims, in turn, infect others with whom they subsequently come into contact.  It seems likely that the "right wing" will be overrepresented within this next wave of virus carriers, as well.

So right-wingers contract the virus, and die of it, at a higher rate than do the rest of the population.

If this happens at a significant enough scale, it could affect the outcome of November's elections.

I would welcome this hypothetical outcome -- fewer right-wing votes -- but I don't want it to happen this way.  I just can't be happy at the prospect of substantial numbers of unnecessary deaths, even if they are caused, in large measure, by the rank stupidity of the victims themselves.

I've never been a fan of Dershowitz but I've respected him, his intellect, and his passion for the law. Over the past decade, I've watched as Dershowitz has, in my opinion, gone from an impartial advocate for the rule of law to a right wing crusader whose reputation will not survive Trump's presidency.

It seems to me that it started under Obama when he consistently attacked the then President as being the "one of the worst foreign policy presidents ever", largely because Obama treated Israel as an ally, but one that isn't always right and should be condemned when they are wrong. However, under Trump, he's doubled down on his crusading and defense of Trump et al.

My question, can you think of any other 'celebrity' or other person who you 'respected' who has done irreparable harm to their reputation/image by their support/opposition to Trump and his presidency? Who would you include in such a list of self-harming celebrities.

‘What Happened to Alan Dershowitz?’

You know, I've seen folks being told for eight years that they had "drunk the Kool-Aid" by people who support everything the current president has done without exception.

They were told they have Trump Derangement Syndrome (A term completely made up by the right) by people whose hysterical hatred of Obama included pushing the ideas that he wasn't born in the United States, he was a Muslim, he wanted to make Sharia Law the law of the land, and he was going to take everyone's guns away. These ideas were pushed for his entire eight years in office.

What a reactionary society, you'd say! One of many across Europe lately, I'd add. The whole "Left loves identity politics" line doesn't make sense to me at all. The Right fucking LOVES identity politics. In fact they play it waaaay better then the Left ever seems to. Think about it.

Everything the Left does is "Socialism" to them. Universal Healthcare? That's socialist! Regulating guns? Socialist!"

And because of it the Left feels the need to spend half its damn time either arguing Socialism is not that bad or arguing that it's not Socialist. Some people are so scared of that stupid label that they'd rather vote for a candidate whose policies they agree less with simply because that candidate doesn't appear as Socialist.

Another identity they control us with is one they somehow claimed themselves. Being "Pro Life". How the hell is being anti abortion pro life? Banning abortion doesn't stop abortions. It just makes them dangerous. If you were pro life you'd want to stop abortions by making them less necessary. You'd be supporting easier more affordable access to birth control for women and you'd be preaching teaching better safe sex education in schools and advocating for stronger, harsher punishments for rapists and to teach boys to keep their hands to themselves. THAT IS ANTI ABORTION. Not banning them so women are stuck injuring themselves at some crazy illegitimate clinic in Mexico.
And what's the Left stuck with while the Right gets to be "Pro-Life"?

Pro fucking choice. What the hell is that shit. And we have to fight for it back and forth just to keep it from being called "Pro abortion." Pro fucking choice. Jesus christ. Self autonomy should not be something you have to be PRO choice on. It should be a fucking giveн. The government doesn't need to control anyone's bodies, men or women. Pro choice people should be called Pro Life, and Pro Life people should have to be named "Supporters of the Government killing you".

Fucking labels. And "The Left is obsessed with identity politics". HA.

Jones blames "the media" and the "deep state" for his self diagnosis of "psychosis" lmao

Alex Jones, Under Oath, Testifies ‘Psychosis’ Made Him a Sandy Hook Hoaxer

"Alex Jones, a dude so full of hateful BS that even a porn site publicly denounced him, swore under oath this week that “psychosis” was the reason he became Sandy Hook hoaxer. (Lenny Pozner, whose son Noah was among the children killed at Sandy Hook, says he prefers the term “hoaxer” to “truther.” “There’s nothing truthful about it,” he told New York.) Jones is being sued by the parent of another child killed at Sandy Hook."

...Tell you what. I was never comfortable with Alex Jones's wild outbursts back in the day. I now realise he was a shill from the start - someone to make truthers look crazy. This psychosis thing is, yes, expedient to try and get himself out of a hole, but once again he makes truthers look crazy, which is a very desirable outcome for him and whoever his bosses/handlers are. Crisis actors are a real thing - there are real victims also at many of these events - but having shills like Jones and Dallas Goldbug involved taints the crisis actor evidence so that many wouldn't take it seriously. All part of the plan! ;-)

I kid you.
