talkpoliticsYou know, I've seen folks being told for eight years that they had "drunk the Kool-Aid" by people who support everything the current president has done without exception.
They were told they have Trump Derangement Syndrome (A term completely made up by the right) by people whose hysterical hatred of Obama included pushing the ideas that he wasn't born in the United States, he was a Muslim, he wanted to make Sharia Law the law of the land, and he was going to take everyone's guns away. These ideas were pushed for his entire eight years in office.
They were told that their opinion of Trump is completely wrong and they're just filled with hate and conspiracy theories by people who believed that Hillary Clinton was running a child sex ring out of a D.C. pizza parlour.
They were told that mainstream media, which has (or is supposed to have) clear journalistic standards, is utterly biased for their side by a group that watches FOX, which has no journalistic standards.
They were told that Christians are oppressed in the US because the law sometimes doesn't allow them to be as bigoted as they wish to be.
They were told that the people on their side are the "real racists" by those who champion voter suppression and racial profiling.
They were told that they just can't handle facts by people who deny climate change.
They were told that they're "triggered" a lot by people whose idea of political argument is just that. Bait some Liberal and watch them howl. These same people believe they know everything they need to know from Alex Jones and four to five minute PragerU videos.
They were told that Democrats are always wrong, they are inherently evil, the media is the enemy of the people, and the president is a man of God by these same people even though all four of those things are demonstrably, in-your-face not true.
They were told the biggest problem of the nation they live in is illegal immigration while the world burns and people are slaughtered by angry white men with rapid-fire rifles and the populace gets dumber and dumber.
They were told the government needs to get out of the way by people who support banning all abortions and drug testing food-stamp recipients.
And you know what? I'm just a teeny bit weary of the constant bullshit raining down from the right in the nation that's supposed to be the flag-bearer of liberty and rationalism. So I'm off to buy a hat. Have a great day, everybody!
