“It was almost like listening to an old friend,” said Rep. Bobby Rush (D-Il.)

“In my household I told Castro he is known as the ultimate survivor,” Rush said.

Rep. Laura Richardson (D-Ca.) said Castro was receptive to President Obama’s message of turning the page in American foreign policy. "He listened. He said the exact same thing" about turning the page "as President Obama said," said Richardson. Richardson said Castro knew her name and district. "He looked right into my eyes and he said, 'How can we help? How can we help President Obama?'"

Castro said that the delegation had expressed to him that a segment of American society “continues to be racist,” and is at least partly to blame for the travel restrictions.

SO, why is it Democrats get so googly eyed when they talk with communists? They see them as brothers and victims of the same evil namely the USA. Even the communist party in the USA sound just like the Democrat party. BUT should you point out these things well then your speaking nonsense. So explain to why the Democrats went there and why they were falling all over themselves to praise Castro and his communist government?

Not only do Democrats get twitter-patted but so does Hollywood.

Just some quotes I trolled from media and holltwood types about Castro.

"Viva Fidel! Viva Che! Castro is the most honest and courageous politician I've ever met." --Jesse Jackson.
"Very selfless and moral. One of the world's wisest men." --Oliver Stone.
"Cuba's Elvis." --Dan Rather.
"Castro is at the same time the island, the men, the cattle, and the earth. He is the whole island." --Jean Paul-Sartre.
"A dream come true!" --Naomi Campbell.
"If you believe in freedom, if you believe in justice, if you believe in democracy, you have no choice but to support Fidel Castro!" --Harry Belafonte.
"A genius." --Jack Nicholson.
"Fidel, I love you. We both have beards. We both have power and want to use it for good purposes." --Francis Ford Coppola.
"The first and greatest hero to appear in the world since the Second World War." --Norman Mailer.
"Socialism works. I think Cuba might prove that." --Chevy Chase.
"Castro is an extraordinary man. He is warm and understanding and seems extremely humane." --Gina Lollobrigida.

Castro deserves the Democrats love and praise. It's like...

Well it's like if I were to meet Ayn Rand I'd feel all giddy inside.

It's like a poor black kid who plays street ball meeting Michael Jordan.
Like an aspiring weight lifter being visited by the ghost of John Atlas
It;s like Jesus Christ meeting Obama.
It's like cannibal meeting Jeffery Dommer.
Like Satan meeting Nancy Pelosi on a blind date

When you aspire to something and you meeting someone LIVING your DREAM. Wow...it's inspirational. It fills you with hope.

I remember when I meet the VP of Sales for my company when I was first starting. Here was a man who was doing what I wanted to do with my life. I had lunch with the guy, we talked about business and goals and how to advance in the corporate world while still having a personal life. It really was inspirational.

So, I can understand why the Democrats are so touched when they meet Castro. I can relate. In fact, I feel kind of happy for them. Most Democrats I meet are usually so angry and seem to hate life, they are so on edge and offended by everything.. So it's good these dems got to experience joy.

Oh seriously, go to hell. You'll find a few fringe people like Bobby freaking Rush lauding Castro and then you pile on some Hollywood jackasses including GINA LOLLABRIGIDA who was last famous in the fraking 1960s????

Grow up.

If you're a parodist, you should apply at The Onion.

If you're serious, you should really go see a therapist for your problem with not having even a tenuous connection with reality.

The only angry people I've ever met are bitter, arrogant Republicans who are still pissed off that they fucked everything up so badly that the majority of voters elected Democrats in the last two nationwide referenda.

And by the way your level of receptivity must not be too high since no matter how often you are being reminded that it is the DemocratIC party, you still insist on the DemocrAT party.

What are your thoughts on the issue of Democratic Party leaders praising Castro? Unless of course, you're okay withthat. I ahve already said I was and stated my reasons why.

It's because some Democrats never grew out of a 60s-era crush on those butchers Mao Zedong, Che Guevara, and Pol Pot. However, thanks to Nixon and his Southern strategy, there are no more Dixiecrats one can point to as an example that Democrats can be every bit as racist and stupid as Republicans. Because those Dixiecrats are now Republicans.

Watching the remnants of the right wing spiral further and further into madness is hilarious. As they become more and more hysterical, shrill, and irrational, they isolate themselves more and more from Americans. I mean, trying to recycle socialism/communism as a new bogeyman? LOL! Even my parents who have voted Republican in every election since the 50's think these people are off their rockers. It's sort've like watching the wicked witch from the Wizard of Oz: "Ah! You cursed brat! Look what you've done! I'm melting, I'm melting!"

Keep up the entertaining posts, everyone loves to watch a train wreck.

Flounce

From: [identity profile] kharmii.livejournal.com
I'm quitting this community. This is complete nonsense! I was invited here yesterday because I was told it was a place where politically-minded people can come for civil conversations. Instead, I look at the last 20 entries and find a bunch of 'us against them' postings full of angry liberals making personal attacks and dropping the 'f-bomb' over and over. It's another drama comm. I don't have time to pick through pages and pages of the political version of the Jerry Springer Show.

Its what happens when you gather more than 1 person in one place (and when there are more than 1 political views there). I mean, its not anything like [livejournal.com profile] conservatism or [livejournal.com profile] liberalism or like any other kind of echo chamber where people sit and bash the other side of the barricade without even giving it the chance to speak back.

But, your choice of course. I was hoping you'd able to sift out the chaff from the real quality and draw smth useful from the latter while ignoring the former, but it seems its indeed easier to just throw one's hands in the air, scream "I cant take this anymore!" and run away and back to the afore-mentioned echo-chambers.

Why do Americans hate Cuba/Castro so much? I'm not joking. I don't get it. Is this still about the Bay of Pigs fuck-up.

I've personally found Cuba not a bad place to vacation. Wasn't any better or worse then DominicanRep, Mazatlan, Antigua, or PeurtoVallarta.

I read the comments above and see Castro called a murderer. The term probably applies to the same extent as any number of US Presidents. I see him called a dictator. So? Dictatorship is just another form of governorship. It's not any less fair then majority rule.

Seriously. Why the hate-on?

I find it somewhat perplexing as well. The world community, as successive UN motions have shown, increasingly put the US towards a minority of one on the matter of trade embargoes etc.
