I don't advocate the death penalty but I shed no tears for this woman. Here's the crux of the story: an anti-immigrant militant attacked a Latino family, killing the father and 9-year-old daughter (as she begged for her life), and shooting the mother who only survived because she pretended to die from the gunshot.

The murderers thought the father was a drug dealer and they wanted his money to finance their budding hate group. I guess that would have been a nifty recruiting tool for extremists, their willingness to kill Mexicans to get things done. Nevermind the fact that the victims were American-born citizens, such details are irrelevant when racial bigotry is concerned.

This is the sort of thing that happens when you fan the flames of hatred, dehumanization is the predecessor to atrocity. I'm surprised this didn't get more attention from the mainstream media, I guess they aren't as liberal as so many seem to think.

The first problem you made is you assumed I said or implied that crimes committed by White people don't get reported in the American national news media, but Shirley I didn't. What I have been saying is, rather, that national news both sensationalizes crimes committed by minorities and underreports or simply ignores crimes committed against minorities in favor of crimes committed by White persons. Fort Hood is a prime example of the former, the mentioned kidnappings and murders of the latter. Fort Hood may have been a mass shooting, but you're ignoring what the subject of the reporting was: his Muslim identity. As far as Talk_politics is concerned, the first post on that subject is on the 5th (http://community.livejournal.com/talk_politics/2009/11/). As for Natalie Holloway, obviously her killer's identity isn't the point, but her own and the others'.

As already stated, the primary point of discussion on Fort Hood was the shooter's Muslim and Iraqi ethnicities. This is not unusual: every time Muslim commits some act of violence the entire Western world has to have this conversation about the barbarous Islamic religion and its lying, Manchurian Candidate adherents who are out to destroy, dismantle, and replace Enlightened Western civilization/s. White shooters? The dialogue is entirely different.

No, what I did was quote you. I'll do it again: Since the "bad guy" here is a White person, we can all brush her off to the side that says "crazy, freak incidents"

That's not me assuming things, that's me quoting you.
