In an Op-Ed piece for Politico, Joe Scarborough thinks the GOP should "man-up" and take Sarah Palin down a peg. "Republicans have a problem," Scarborough writes at Politico. "The most-talked-about figure in the GOP is a reality show star who cannot be elected." To make matters worse, Scarborough prods, Palin does all of this while demeaning the legacy of GOP standard-bearers that many hold dear, people such as former presidents Reagan, whom she casually downplayed as "an actor," as well as George H.W. and Barbara Bush, whom she deemed "blue bloods." In a particularly caustic passage, Scarborough seeks to draw a comparison between the legacies of H.W. Bush and Palin:

"I suppose Palin's harsh dismissal of this great man is more understandable after one reads her biography and realizes that, like Bush, she accomplished a great deal in her early 20s. Who wouldn't agree that finishing third in the Miss Alaska beauty contest is every bit as treacherous as risking your life in military combat? Maybe the beauty contestant who would one day be a reality star and former governor didn't win the Distinguished Flying Cross, but the half-termer was selected as Miss Congeniality by her fellow contestants." Source.

Ouch. Sarah Palin's seriousness was questioned as recently in October by none other than Karl Rove, who suggested that a presidential candidate who appeared in a reality television show wouldn't have much gravitas. Peggy Noonan, Ronald Reagan's speechwriter fired off a few choice words to Palin, calling her a "nincompoop." While many defend St. Palin, suggesting it's the mean ole poopy-pant liberal media that has it "out" for her, there are plenty within the Republican party that also think Sarah is a lot of hot air.

Joe Scarborough's editorial.

I don't care for Scarborough but he's 100% right on this. Palin makes Hubert Humphery look like Lincoln. Her only really skill is an uncanny ability to remain the spotlight despite a ton of evidence that she's really not a good politician and kinda clueless in general.

Too many people in the GOP seem to think that their bases hates the Dems enough that they'll vote for any jackass with an elephant button on their shirt. That might have been true at one point but not anymore.

Hey, it worked for Bush for 2 terms.

No, what worked with Bush was that his opponents were feckless idiots. Gore wanted a recount in 2000 of a specific limited number of counties that were pro-Bush, where if he'd asked for the entire state he would have won. Kerry was so pathetic that he, despite being a *real* war hero was outplayed on Vietnam by a good ol' boy draft dodger.

On the other hand, what Palin said was true: Reagan was a man best known for starring in a movie with a chimpanzee, and the Bushes are a family of carpetbagging Damnyankees who just happen to be Right-Wingers, not lefties like the Roosevelts and Kennedys.

On the other other hand the person saying it couldn't hack being governor of the least-populated state in the Union and was Candidate Failure in 2008 and 2010 both. Not to mention her preacher's connected to witch hunters and her husband is a separatist. So......those who live in glass houses should not throw stones.

FACT: I can't find one Republican who supported George W. Bush. This man was mysteriously elected in spite of every true conservatives harsh and vocal criticism. Nobody knows how he got elected, what with zero supporters in this country. Amazing really.

And Palin? Pshaw, she was the female Messiah of the listless Republican ship without an identity. She was the brand. She was the image and lifestyle of a new and SRS Republican party, united by the cornerstone values of vanity Christianity and conservative lifestyles.

Where do these people come from, and how do they gain power? Nobody likes them! Nobody at all! I'm so confused...

We all know what's gonna happen: she's gonna believe the Wal-Mart shoppers and shut-ins and horny rednecks who tell her at her book signings to run for President. And she'll run and be an idiot on the issues and a cunt to everyone around her, and then she'll blame everyone else for ruining her chances when, in reality, in a rare moment of clarity, Republicans will vote for the another bugfuck insane candidate, the one who didn't say on her own reality show that she got millions of dollars to do that she thinks it sucks that people invade her privacy and that she's just regular people, like you and you over there, who must have a TV studio in your home so you can tell Sean Hannity what regular people think.

Leave it to the Taiwanese to get it straight:
Growing Up Palin: Ex-governor and family become celebrities (http://www.nma.tv/2010/11/25/growing-up-palin-ex-governor-and-her-family-become-celebrities/)

People like Joe Scarborough, Peggy Noonan, etc. have a serious vested interest in attacking Palin. They are parts of opposing camps that are wrestling control of the GOP right now, so why be surprised when they're at odds with one another? It's like fights between environmentalist liberals and union Democrats.
