When Bush held speeches and town hall meetings he would corral all protesters far out of sight and earshot and call these "free speech zones". He had no tolerance for dissenting opinions.

For those who think Obama is no different I present another example. During his town hall meeting today a man with a gun stood outside the school, holding a sign quoting Jefferson: "The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants."

He was monitored but because he was technically not breaking any laws (he was a private property, a church gave him permission to be there, how Christian of them).

This is exactly the mindset that I'm talking about that needs to change. I know he's just a douchebag that wants attention (and is getting it, even from me) but it's funny how much Republicans and Conservatives would howl about how much we need to respect the President, until we elect a Democratic one.

I don't know what point this guy is trying to make other than a thinly-veiled threat to the President. I hear Obama's detractors calling him a tyrant but I have yet to see him remove a single right from anyone.

They were already insane. Health care reform just gave them a new reason to express their insanity.

Sonny, I'm gonna tell you a secret-there is not one time in history that the human race and its elites have not been bonkers.

Ain't history grand?

Relatively OT but that's one of my favourite quotes.

Anyway, I personally wouldn't see much of a problem with sending protesters a certain distance away. If they loudly disrupt the speech would they not be impeding on the speaker's right to free speech by drowning it out?

Agreed. That guy was dancing right on the line but it was best to let him do his thing since he wasn't technically breaking the law.

It's certainly a step up from having to sign a loyalty oath to get into a speech by the vice-president or people getting arrested for their t-shirts.

Note he wrote those words all the way over in Paris shortly before the French Revolution. He wasn't affected by it at all and showed the meaning of those words by only freeing his bastards by his slave....

Don't be such a tool, he was not "outside the school".

It's legal for him to have the gun as long as it is unconcealed, the police told MSNBC. The man was on private property -- church ground on the roadway leading to the high school where Obama would speak. The church gave the man permission to be there. However, according to police officers, he is under constant surveillance and is not anywhere near where the president will speak.

I am way beyond liberals being shocked that the First and Second Amendments mean what they say.

ETA...

Oh, and:
"I have yet to see him remove a single right from anyone."

That never stopped the Bush haters from declaring him BusHitler, did it?

Referring to Bush as Hitler was the result of intellectually lazy and dishonest bastards who liked sticking a bunch of Jewish ex-Communists with the name "Nazis" because even fewer of them know what Nazism means than do on the Right (to judge by Goldberg).

Obama's tyranny

Date: 11/8/09 23:53 (UTC)
From: [identity profile] sophia-sadek.livejournal.com
Obama is a tyrant because he want to force Americans to take care of the tired, the sick, those yearning to breathe free and Americans only want to bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb Iran. Now, that's tyranny.

How about that Swastika in Georgia? Now, that's tellin' 'em what the opponents are truly all about.

This reminds of that time when Lenin decided to shave off his beard. A little boy brought a razor and hot water and had been waiting for him to finish and take the accessories back. Lenin started with his left cheek and as he drew the razor blade along his face his eyes were fixed on the boy. The boy felt uncomfortable and stepped back but Lenin kept staring at him through the mirror. He'd done his left cheek and same happened when he was working on the right - the stare of the world proletariat's leader had not left the boy for a second. And when Lenin started shaving his neck the little boy was already shaking with fear but Lenin had not said a word, just silently drew his razor while staring the boy down. When finished shaving Lenin took a towel and drained his face then he looked at the boy one last time and told him to take the shaving accessories back. He did let the boy go without slitting his throat, that's how kind and close to common folks Lenin was!

On the other hand I don't see how is not arresting a law abiding citizen related to not letting trespassers into some private meeting.

are you making a reference to something?

are you implying the guy was merely planning on peacefully shooting his own beard off?
