My point is that he isn't going to do anything for gays, and so why we should have him be called the Anti-Christ by the Religious Right when he's giving them all they could ask for is beyond me.

No, the reason they're effective is they're a parliamentary party in a broad-tent system. The GOP had party discipline. At one point the Dems knew how to govern but not to campaign. Then we had a President that ran sky-high deficits in eight years and in half a year his successor does the same thing it took Bush eight years to do.
