the only reason the republican party is so much more powerful and effective is because they've claimed and held onto this ridiculous manufactured moral high-ground that gives people the chance to vent their stupid prejudices and ideas about how other people "just ain't right"

No, the reason they're effective is they're a parliamentary party in a broad-tent system. The GOP had party discipline. No, it's evident they know how to campaign but not to govern.

At one point the Dems knew how to govern but not to campaign. Then we had a President that ran sky-high deficits in eight years and in half a year his successor does the same thing it took Bush eight years to do.
