First, I'd like ro take a liberty and congratulate local inhabitants, including the members of community's Politbureau.

Second, I am curious ro know - what right(s) are you missing right now, folks?
Be creative, try to take higher than picking up in your noses or other interestng places, touvarisches.

E.g., I am missing the right to legally have what I want to by free downloads, including but not limiting to, torrents et al. Yes, copyright legislation must be revised.

Start donating your views right now.
Indication of country appreciated but not mandatory.

PTO Will the mod on duty put the tag 'survey' please?

I am missing no rights because rights cannot be removed from me. I have rights which are infringed upon, often by the government that we instituted to protect our rights but that does not remove them from me, it just means that there are artificial consequences put into place which I must account for when choosing a course of action.

To put it another way...

"I am free, no matter what rules surround me. If I find them tolerable, I tolerate them; if I find them too obnoxious, I break them. I am free because I know that I alone am morally responsible for everything I do." -Heinlein

Well that all sounds very agreeable insofar as it goes, but the philosophical issue I have always had with this view of rights is, where do those rights end? Who decides where they end?

I've heard the response "my rights end where another persons begins", but doesn't that require communication and negotiation to establish? And doesn't that mean that the boundaries of natural rights are essentially arbitrary and subject to alteration based on who has the larger ambition and is the better negotiator?

"often by the government"

And at least as often (if not moreso) by corporations, yet lo and behold, no mention.

Actually, yes. Those corporations.
Especially after the Citizens United Supreme Court decision.

Hey, torrents are pretty accessible here. They tried to pass a law banning them but the supreme court said it's unconstitutional, so they're thriving.

I'm here to help, but I need to understand what you expect from me. You wanted a tag 'survey', it's there.

I see. OK, here's how you can add tags.

While you're still writing your post, there's a box at the bottom which says 'Tags' (http://pics.livejournal.com/htpcl/pic/000h7we1). When you start typing a tag, like, 'Surv.....', the 'Survey' tag will pop up and you can select it.

But even if you don't add any tag, you can post your,... post, and then press the 'Tags button' on top of your post (http://pics.livejournal.com/htpcl/pic/000h8ee5) to return to the Tags tool to add the tags. The list of tags will appear (http://pics.livejournal.com/htpcl/pic/000h9zyh), where you can select the already existing tags you want to add, then press 'Save' and you're done. I hope this helped.

Yes, but that only applies to your personal LJ.
This is a LJ community, and it has about 300 tags. So you can still use those. Besides, only mods can create new tags so you can use the existing ones.

Also note we can add tags by request, we just had to limit access to them because people were adding inappropriate tags to other people's posts. Haters gonna hate.

On a side note, I like the idea of calling the mods the Politbureau.

"What we have here is an artist (the originaal maker of music), who likes to have fans (and more copies sold too) but can't."

...because they signed a contract to abide by what their production company does with their material.

The fans are not entitled to get whatever they want.

I'm all for copyright reform, but until that happens, torrenting is stealing.

And by "subservisives" you mean "legal entities who've signed legal contracts with the performers who gave consent to let them distribute the music as they see fit."
