Senate removes Louisiana judge

The historic vote marks only the eighth time in history that a federal judge has been removed from office by the Senate.

Finally, the Senate does one thing that's actually Constitutional.

And though the senators sat in the chamber for the required quorum, they were not necessarily engaged. Senators tapped away on their BlackBerrys under their desks and sifted through manila folders stuffed with papers.

But of course they still have problems doing even something simple like paying attention. I guess they had already made up their minds or planned to just vote along the same lines as everyone else.

As compared to the absurdity of wanting a 21st Century military paid for by 18th Century economic structures?

Ain't no useless comparison given the Tea Party's made it clear they want the repeal of every social legislation passed since the most enlightened year of 1913.

Hey now, it wasn't my imagination that people were calling for repeal of things like the income tax and direct election of Senators while recognized as Tea Party candidates. So unprincipled.

So...

Senate does the right thing.

You still find something to bitch about.

Jeez, is it seasonal affected disorder time already?

And...

“But the fact that we set aside everything that we were doing and came together and sat as a Senate and listened to the arguments and deliberated extensively about this impeachment should be reassuring to every American," said Missouri Sen. Claire McCaskill, who led the Senate Impeachment Committee, after the verdict was rendered.

Seems like there is something to bitch about. Then again if the standard for "deliberation" in the Senate is "half of them actually showed up", I guess it explains a lot of the terrible laws that come out of Congress.

(What we really need are legal cell phone jammers. There's nothing more annoying then Senior Management calling you to a meeting to demo something, then doing it while they spend the entire thing on Blackberries not hearing a single word you say. Way to waste my time.)

This guy was such an open and shut case, however. He actively took gifts from lawyers who appeared in his court house. He used a fake name to file for bankruptcy.

They showed up to do their duty. It's not like this was complicated, however.

Sounds about right.

Apparently, he / she is also operating under the perspective that constitutional = something he/she agrees with.

Most Congressional and Senate decisions are not made in Senate, and I don't think anyone seriously believes many members actually decide how to vote based on information they heard in the "discussion" that day.

That said, doing the right thing for the wrong reasons is better than the wrong thing.
