Good Idea. I have cast my vote, and would like to add that the Green party in the UK has put forward policies that wiill not just address poverty in the UK, but throughout the world.
We are a Global Village, and Greens recognise this. Women in our world are about 50% of the population, but earned 10% of the world's income, and own a mere 1% of it's property, the last time I looked at the figures.
UK Greens want to change this, and will work with other Green parties in other countries around the world to make it happen. Make no mistake, gender politics, womens empowerment and women's rights are a big factor in in ending world poverty - but there are other issues in play here, and Greens address those too.
As well as a global shift in women's status in society, we want to see changes in the way international trade is conducted between nations, as well as international legislation on finance and banking.
Iin the last century, the Labour Movement made vast changes to the lives of ordinary people by bringing in the Welfare State, regulations on health and safety in industry, and other important reforms. In this century, I would like to predict that the Green Movement will be an equally powerful driving force for change and improvement.
Great. Now make a post about it if you want a full exposure ;) This one is just meant to simply outline some general ideas of what we might focus on for the duration of this week (but is not compulsory).
I hereby declare this weeks topic to have been decided by a tyrannical group of 8! A mere 8 people can decide the fate of the entire community? Why, it's becoming more and more fascist by the day? I bet you by tomorrow they'll have a banner up that reads: "SOCIAL JUSTICE" and we all know those are just code words for "kill da jooze!"
Yep. I've been preparing a lot of posts for this, so I'll be quite the regular poster this week. Class and economic justice are near and dear to my heart.....and my POV may surprise those who consider me one of the Right Wing Randian manchildren that proliferate on the Intarwebs these days.
Great to hear, as I have much to say on the matter too. But why wait for this topic to win the weekly spotlight instead of posting on it anyway - I don't know.
Because I had too much to do at one time and was spending time revising it. It's a hobby horse of mine to the point that I have somewhere around 400 pages of scribblings about this at home, and being able to write it in a more clearly defined and coherent manner took some time. I do a lot of writing Offline.....

Out of curiosity, did you vote on the last poll? No? Then why complain? You could've affected the vote.
I take it you dont have anything to post/say/comment on the topic, then?
