There are several claims that we frequently hear from conservative homophobes, so let's see where they lead us:

1) Gays are depraved, pervert and degraded, they are comitting a sin.
2) Gays shouldn't be allowed to raise children, because they'd spread their depravity to the next generations.
3) Gays don't procreate, therefore they don't contribute with anything to population growth, which is a violation of the main function of the family that God gave us.

If we're to follow the logic in these three statements, I'd ask why would anyone want such depraved, pervert and degraded people to procreate, and spread their depravity to the next generations. You can't both have the gays contribute to population growth AND eliminate the spreading of depravity, can you?

So, what do conservative homophobes really value more - piety, or procreation? If it's the latter, then aren't they encouraging the spreading of debauchery? If it's the former, then aren't they mocking God's intention for the union between man and woman?

Of course, all of what I'm saying would be valid, unless we assume gays can't change and become "normal" (!?) again. But, unlike the reversed (the actual coming out of gays as such), I've yet to see any gay woman or man turning straight. Have you?

Homophobes aren't too bright, are they?

Our very own domestic conservatives (they'd like to call themselves "patriots", but in reality they're just a bunch of dumb bigots who think they're very smart), have such a list of self-contradictory statements about immigration as well. They're usually the same guys who are conservative homophobes, mind you.

So here are the statements.

1) Our country's economic woes are caused by the demographic crisis (depopulation), and immigrants stealing our jobs and eroding our national identity and traditions.
2) The government should stimulate economic development, and reverse the process that's draining our population out: encourage procreation and the family, and incentivize people to stop leaving the country.

Well, there are several realistic ways to counter a demographic crisis. One is to stimulate population growth. But you'd need lots of money for that, because you'd need to create a favorable economic environment for people to make families and babies. And we don't currently have that amount of money.

Another way is to limit emigration. But again, you'd need even more money for that, because unless you'd like to seal off all borders and bar people from traveling away from the country, you'd need to vastly improve the overall social and economic level, the living standard, etc. We definitely don't have that amount of money, either.

So you're left with the third option. Importing labor from outside. Well, since we can't afford to attract folks from more developed ("white"!) countries, what remains is to import workers from "brown" countries (read: refugees, and economic migrants). Yep, as shocking as it may seem to us, the most depressed nation in the world, there are still plenty of lands that are worse shitholes than mine.

BUT! Didn't we say in statement #1 that those migrants are bad, they're eroding our nation and its economy? As a result of this notion taking deep root in societies like mine and the neighboring ones (Poland, Hungary, the Czech Republic, and the entire Balkans), these are the countries that are least welcoming of migrants. Not that migrants would want to move here anyway, what with our economic predicament.

All of this results in continuing depopulation, economic problems, and a domino effect. And we can't address it adequately, because we're just stupid. It's a vicious circle that I'm not seeing an exit from, for the time being. Instead of tackling the main problem, depopulation, we're chasing ghosts and fighting imaginary foes like family-destroying gays, job-stealing migrants and whatnot.

The conclusion is that it's not the purported global anti-Bulgarian conspiracy that's going to wipe my nation out, it is its own stupidity. As the local saying goes, "The harm you do to yourself, no one can do to you".

It does rather appear that the stupid are in the ascendent worldwide.

I read an exchange of letters elsewhere by 2 members of the LGBTQ community, one of whom is an online acquaintance. These letters were written in response to a creative-writing instructors banning gay characters, among other petty things, from her institution. I then tried registering on her website, and received an email from her stating that my registration didn't go through and that she'd be glad to help me. So then I responded to her with an open letter of my own, inquiring about their discriminatory policy of banning people based on their sexuality, and apparently, ability. Her response? "Oh, we ban gay characters but not gays themselves." Turns out they also ban things like fantasy. C'mon now people this is America, the land of the free. I guess not according to some.
