Pennsylvania Republican House leader Mike Turzai:

Voter ID, which is going to allow Governor Romney to win the state of Pennsylvania, done.

It was bound to happen sooner or later. The right wing has been edging closer and closer to the overt rejection of our open political system. Now at last one of them has come out and said it. To applause.

Voter ID is not about eliminating fraud. It’s about preventing Democratic voters from voting.

How else can his comments be interpreted?

Conspiracy buffs like to make a lot of hay over Bush 41's remark about a new world order. Since those halcyon years of the collapse of the USSR, we have witnessed the rise of the new world ordure instead. Washington's globocop mindset did not start with the elder shrub, but it certainly turned quickly putrid during the reign of the younger potentate. The current administration has only exacerbated matters by claiming that the work of a hit squad qualifies as "justice." It seems more like the kind of "justice" caricatured by Mario Puzo. The ordure is pretty pungent.

The organization of which I am a tiny part has an international mandate. When an attorney asked me about the organization, I mentioned that we function above the level of the federal government. He did not think that was possible. He claimed that there is nothing above the level of the federal government. I replied that the federal government would like him to believe that. Since that conversation, the federal government has sunk to new depths of depravity. Talented people have abandoned the vessel and have been well received into our camp. It is the sign of a floundering ship.

At one point along the way, some military contractors discovered our electronics test facility. We invited them to take advantage of our resources to test the device they had under development. We gave them some pointers on test scenarios. One of our people suggested that the ultimate test for their device would involve a military officer who thought that his sidearm was loaded with live rounds. If their device could cause him to point the gun at his own head and pull the trigger, their machine was good to go. Of course, the ammunition in the gun would not be live. We would not suggest wasting a perfectly good officer in such a method of verification.

When the issue of international observation was raised, one of the contractors was concerned that their work be kept secret. They did not want Europeans to know what they were up to. I pointed out that our facilities were part of an international organization, so the Europeans were already quite aware of their work. It was too late: the cat was out of the bag.

A more recent concern was the fear that American citizens might find out what the US military is up to. They were afraid that people would no longer pay their taxes. Where the Tea Party would withhold tax payments for fear that an immigrant might profit, others would withhold payment for fear they might be the next military guinea pig. The contractors found themselves between a rock and a hard place. Their testing had been restricted to US airspace for fear that other nations might decipher their protocol.

What do you think about the idea of a neuro-mechanical interface with the potential of eliminating armed conflict?

Last week the Congressional Oversight and Government Reform Committee voted 23 to 17 (down party lines) to hold to hold US Attorney General Eric Holder in Contempt of Congress for attempting to Obstruct thier ivestigation into the death of Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry who was killed by a rifle registered to the US Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco Firearms and Explosives (BATFE).

It has since been revealed that BATFE Agents along the Arizona/Mexico Border had been providing weapons to the Signolla Drug Cartel. I posted about the story when initially broke here.

Holder initially denied any knowledge of of the policy, and later defended it as simply the continuation of a Bush-era program called "Operation Wide Reciever". He has since withdrawn those statements. Holder has not yet been formally held in contempt of Congress. The full House still needs to approve the resolution in order for that to happen. But President Obama has elected to support Holder by asserting executive privilege over the documents subpoenaed by the Oversight Committee.

This raises some interesting questions... )

Talk about future developments of the world. Question. What's the real purpose hiding behind the US plan to cover Europe with an anti-missile shield? Does America and the West fear Iran that much, or is it something else? Could it be that the US is trying to achieve a strategic invincibility from any sort of conventional strikes? And could Russia really oppose the US plans (or should it?) And, most importantly, what sort of "pax" will it be, when this strategic invincibility is finally achieved? Would the US overcome the temptation of "absolute power", which, as the word goes, "corrupts absolutely"? Let's try to see if we could come up with some scenarios.

Hear the ramblings of a deluded lunatic who only pretends to know something about anything. )
