So, baseless internet poll:
who do you think will be the GOP candidate? Not who do you want it to be, tho that's interesting too, but who do you think it will be?
[Poll #1794781]
If you're a registered Republican, who's your vote going to?
If I were a GOP member, I'd vote other, Huntsman. Seems sanest. Clearly it's too far to tell, but I feel good about my wager that Perry won't be the GOP nominee.
My vote in the poll is for Romney. Go bland.

I feel good about your wager, too. haha
Honestly, I put "other" because it's clearly not going to shake out anytime soon unless the "Not Romney" contingent decides to coop themselves up in a room and figure out who is the best of their bunch. By then, Romney might actually have it tied up.
Gingrich has hung in, though, and he was very impressive at the Tuesday(?) debate. I don't know if that will work to his advantage, or if it's just the up-and-down of the crop, but people are hungry for a not-Romney to replace Obama, and who knows at this point.

Okay, continuing to be disgusted that any of the main runners are still in the running, but particularly Cain. Then again, given the Republican attitude towards women, it shouldn't shock me that they don't care if their potential presidential nominee enjoys sexually harassing women.

Date: 14/11/11 02:56 (UTC)Perry isn't ready for primetime. He's too cavalier, in my opinion and too open to ridicule, now more than ever. That may be unfair, but there it is. Cain has some attractive qualities, but his main argument (I'm a businessman!) comes with a serious downside. Government and politics are different animals and the presidency is no place to learn on the job. Bachman? Not as crazy a the left wants to believe, but not a president. Paul is such a strange admixture of radically awesome and profoundly crazy.
I've more or less resigned myself to Romney.

From some of the comments above, the monkeys still seem a valid choice. It matters little. Obama can't be defeated.
Why? No challenger; look at the monkeys running against him.

Date: 14/11/11 23:05 (UTC)Is there any evidence that Clinton actively used his power to get head from Lewinsky?
There seems to be direct and damning evidence of Cain using his power to get sex from a woman.
I see a very significant difference.
That said, adultery isn't a good thing--so tisk tisk Bill! But adultery is NOT the same offering a job to a woman in return for a sexual favor (again, I'm unaware of any evidence that Clinton actively used his power to get Lewinsky--the passive use of power isn't something he could control. He can't help it if some women are attracted to power. But, again, it's diff than the Cain scenario.)

It's almost as if they know the next 4 years are going to be shit and they don't want to be the guys left holding the sack.
