Stop the war on Halloween.
24/10/11 15:55Like Bill O'Reilly, I am concerned about cultural attacks on holidays and traditions. What I am speaking about is the War on Halloween. No, I am not talking about fringe Christian fundamentalists who refuse Halloween because they think it is Satanic. What I am talking about are the ravenous, mindless hordes of geekery that has contaminated everything in our culture with popular entertainment references and costume play.
Halloween is a sacred American tradition where the scary things can be confronted communally. Halloween is not a comic convention, Star Trek convention, or a costume party for your favorite TV show. You already have a place for that, and it's down at the local hotel/convention center. Oh you may think I'm being a crabby old fool, but just you wait until your children are sharing the streets with furries. And then you will ask yourself, "Why? How? How did this happen? Where did we go wrong?"
You know where you went wrong. When you abandoned tradition in favor of pop-culture! Reap what you sow! Revel in your slutty nurses and slutty polices and slutty cartoon characters while you have the time! For it will all inevitably fall prey to the demons of the twisted internets realm. You want rule 34 knocking on your door? Then ignore me. But only do so at your own peril!
