These videos, I think, display quite clearly why we need to stop caring about money and begin/return to caring about human beings.

There isn't much more, I think, that needs to be said. The video is explicit. Very explicit.

Does anybody dare call what was described "justice"?

"When the power of love overcomes the love of power, the world will know peace."

Tony Montana: In this country, you gotta make the money first. Then when you get the money, you get the power. (Then when you get the power, then you get the women.)

Oh, okay. Hopefully I can find time in the next few days to watch them, then.

How are you going to flip that switch?

"Step one: get people to agree on goal"

How many years do you allow for this step?

Shouldn't one of our first questions be why these leaders allow their constituents to live this way?

We have government and non-profit entities helping the homeless... to a degree. In the film, it looks like they're on their own except for the farmer's help.

So it takes this guy 9 minutes to get to the point that a) some people are poorer than others, and b) that one man's garbage is another man's meal.

Okay then. Glad I took the time to watch. /sarcasm

No. If he had a point beyond the 3:40 mark in the second video, I didn't bother with it further. That it took him 9 minutes to meander to a point he should have gotten to in the first minute didn't bode well for anything coming out of the final 3. Is there a certain time frame I should look for, or what's the point?

What is missing is that the Brazilian economy is structured in such a way that some people are treated worse than pigs. These people may have been uprooted in an effort to turn their territory over to beef production for the export market. The video is not clear on the root cause of the injustice. The simple lack of an income says little of why that is the case.

Yes, there was a focus on money, but I don't agree that the elimination of money was an implication. The film concluded by describing the desperate people as being free. You could also draw a conclusion such as the benefit of having an owner to take care of people who cannot care of themselves.

That was not a picture of Genghis Khan.

But yeah, I agree with your premise. But I wish I saw more concrete, realistic ideas about how to change things. (Been looking for a while...)

So, getting rid of money solves poverty?

Feudalism solved homelessness, too bad once you had a job working for a Lord, you couldn't leave for greener pastures.

I don't know, maybe if we went back to the Truck system (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Truck_system), things would be better for everyone.

I learned so much from watching these videos!

✱ Tomatoes are a vegetable, NOT a fruit.
✱ "A family is a community formed by two human being -- male and female..." So if gay couples with children are NOT families, what are they?

On a more serious note:
✱ "Those things that have been judged unsuitable for pigs will be used as food by children and women."
✱ "What places human beings after pigs in the priority of choosing food is the fact that they do not have money or an owner."
No, in this particular situation, what places human beings after pigs in priority of choosing food is an unethical pig farmer and people who lack a highly developed telencephalon who are willing to accept that crap!

By the way, why are you trying to pass off a video from 1989 as being relevant to today's world problems? A more relevant argument would be a) is Ilha das Flores still inhabited by human beings in this century? and b) is this type of food situation still going on in Ilha das Flores?

I don't know, why is Reagan's name being cited so often in 2011? JFK's quotations also. Hell, even Carlin. Even the Founding Fathers!

Apparently some things are eternal.
