California will become the first state to require public schools to teach gay and lesbian history.

As expected, Gov. Jerry Brown signed a bill on Thursday that mandates that the contributions of gays and lesbians in the state and the country be included in social science instruction and in textbooks. School districts will have until next January to begin implementing the new law, which was also promoted in part as a way to combat bullying of gay and lesbian students.


Well, now this is a surprise.After Prop 8 I was forced to revise my opinion on just how progressive California really was. But this makes me think that maybe things might not have been what I though. Sure, their will be opposition. But while this will take some time to fully kick in I think that the genie is out of the bottle and as California goes so goes the rest of the nation. However more slowly.

With this and the ruling against DADT it looks like gay rights is really picking up some steam.

I don't think I know better than anyone. I'm perfectly aware of my limitations. I realize I have much to learn and have grown up in a sheltered life. Now, Dr. Freud, how about addressing my actual points that conservatives admire traitors and apologize for murder and claim it was not murder? Can you do that?

Actually I claimed that people like you, who are Religious conservatives think that way. I have never named you personally and all my comments refer to an entire wing of politics based on what that wing says and does. It's not exactly you I single out, but you see it thus. Perhaps it is you who project and not me?

Nor do you know me, to assume that I think a certain way. To judge by the extent that I have been called a monarchist, a fascist, a communist, an anarchist, a white hater, a white supremacist, a state supremacist, and a liberal, all of which together would require one hell of a special type of Orwellian superpower I daresay that my views seem not to fit any particular category. Not that this has stopped people from claiming I think certain ways when I do not.
