Pride Parade a Big Hit

Here is an interview by our local public broadcasters with Gene Robinson. He was at the Pride Parade today in a contingent just in front of ours and I did not even know it. It is great that he was able to join us this year.

The parade was the best one ever for me. On the way out here, there was a group of teenagers celebrating on the subway. One of them said that it is as good as Christmas. Another passenger remarked that it is better than Christmas. Here are some young folks enjoying the parade last year:



The exuberance of our young supporters gives me great hope for the future.

What do you think of the schism in the Anglican communion over the ordination of Gene Robinson?

I think that the schism in the Anglican Communion is just like the schism in the country, and in 60 years, no one will remember what the fuss was about.

This schism is bigger than just the US, though. It extends to other territories in the domain of Anglican communion.

No, I think the issue is much smaller than that between the north and the south. Some wounds never heal; this is not one of them.

I think that the schism will be resolved in the US and the British Commonwealth. I think more conservative congregations will split off, and I feel very sorry for them.

I doubt that more congregations will split off in the future. It appears that the break-up has stabilized. On the other hand, I am merely an outsider looking in.
