Whoops, what happened to the Canucks? I thought they were supposed to give away a couple of matches to the Bruins just for the TV/commercials/viewers sake, eh? ;-)

Star S.O.S. Detected From Space (http://news.discovery.com/space/black-hole-star-swift-110616.html)
Astronomers pick up a mayday call from a star being ripped apart by a black hole 3.8 billion light-years from Earth.
* An unusual gamma-ray burst is believed to stem from a star's losing battle with a black hole. * Viewing geometry puts Earth looking down the barrel of a black hole jet. * The event was first detected in March and continues to stream gamma rays -- as well as X-ray and infrared light.
Since today is Iceland National Day, i hereby congratulate all Icelanders, all friends and fans of our cute tiny rock in the North Atlantic with some Glíma (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glima) highlights. May the Hidden Folk watch over you!
Watched the series. Vancouver had been so strong at home I really thought they'd end up taking it. That second Boston goal really did drop my jaw. I've seen players get checked while charging for the net before, but never did I see a player whiff on a shot and have it still go in. That was something entirely new.
But yeah, I love hockey. As a Devils fan, I was more than a little bit let down by them not making the playoffs at all this time (John Maclean was a great player for the Devils, but playing and coaching seem to be two different skill sets not shared in his person).
Anyhoo, great game, great series. Was silently rooting for Boston, and glad they won, but not having a personal stake in the game I wouldn't have been broken up if they lost, and would have been happy just with a solidly played game, and I got that out of it either way. Feel a little bad Canada hasn't broken their streak yet.
Here's Marc-Antoine Charpentier's opening Rondeau* to his Te Deum. It's much more familiar as the Eurovision theme. In this version, it's beautifully performed on a guitar:
Here is the original opulent scoring performed on baroque trumpets and timpani and instruments. 3 Very short fanfares are improvised before the Rondeau Great stuff ;)
============== *Rondeau is French for Rondo, a musical form of A-B-A-C-A format (used all the time in pop music), with the middle sections in the relative minor of the major key (in this case D major-B minor-D major-B minor-D major).
Early music conductor and performer Jordi Savall & Hesperion XXI perform music from the court of the Sultans of Constantinople. Savall has his own recording label, (http://www.alia-vox.com/) and specializes in doing this types of recordings (my favorite is a 3 CD set based on the music of the countries Marco Polo traveled through). The music is beautifully performed here, and a lot more accessible than you'd think. Great stuff ;)
