Because it's NOW really-Friday (at long last!), here's the countdown to your portion of lulz. Four, three, two, POW!

Dominique Strauss-Kahn. Oh, you're so sweet...

http://blog.faboverfifty.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/05/imgres-11.jpeg
DSK sez: "Meh........"

From the blogosphere:

"I feel sory for Dominique Strauss-Kahn, there is nothing worse than getting accused of attempted rape. It means you failed."

"I just heard that Silvio Berlusconi has been asked to head the IMF and restore its integrity at this difficult time."

"Dominique Strauss-Kahn should look on the bright side. It's probably not the last time he'll be picking up the free soap before being involved in a sexual assault."

""IMF head in US custody" Sure, America has reached its debt limit but isn't this rather drastic?"

...Your turn, mofos!!!

BTW

do you imagine WHAT they're planning to do, when they "kill" a hear of WMF that seriously.

I mean, this is not a fuckin' McDonalds or a National Bank of any country.

This is a World Monetary Fund. (read these words and try to imagine them - they're no joke, no kid-play, but the worldwide issue)

Moving the head of it - will impact worldwide economy - no doubt.

Crossing my fingers and waiting for another Economy Crisis (or something worse).

Are they going to close WMF?
It has nothing to do with it anymore?

Btw for those unfamiliar with the Friday Lulz thread, the punishment for those who mention anything political on it looks like this:

- being undressed and smeared in chocolate all over
- 36 virgins (of undisclosed gender and age [and species]) being unleashed on the victim to lick them till they pass away
- disclaimer: remaining 36 virgins stay at a undisclosed location to serve all the needs of Teh Modz

But since the world ends tomorrow you wouldnt be so worried about that anyway :D

Wait, the dividing of the virgins has become an official part of the rules now? That's some straight up bullshit, I'd like to challenge that :P

Virgins are waaaayy overrated.

From: [identity profile] montecristo.livejournal.com
Even if there were not the gender, age, and species questions of which to be wary, I could think of a couple more reasons to be wary of incurring punishment. In the first place, virgins are so inexperienced; I like my licquor to be aged a little bit. In the second place, there are often very good reasons why virgins remain virginal!

I have no idea that "they" are "planning" to do....beyond appointing a new head of the IMF.

The lesson here is actually very positive: don't rape. Even if you are very powerful and also famous in France. Don't rape. Just don't.

Begun research for my next project after Up With the Star. Our Dixie Forever (as the first TL has a title from the Union version of Battle Cry of Freedom the other one would have a title from the Confederate version) features a Confederate victory in late 1862 over a badly divided Army of the Potomac resulting in occupation of Baltimore, severing Washington from the North and bringing in the British and French Empires to recognize the Confederacy.

What's been rather unsettling about that research is realizing how screwed up an independent Confederacy would be, from first to last. What's been kind of cool and neat is to do research on the course of development the rest of the USA would have followed bereft of the Confederacy. One hint of how Our Dixie Forever ends up is that Nathan Bedford Forrest becomes Muhammad Ali Jinnah/Kim Il Sung/Ioseb Jugashvili and drags the CSA kicking and screaming into the Modern Age at the head of a military junta.

That in turn prompted me to go into even super-geekier mode and work on an alternate history of Timeline-191 which actually dials off most of the Confederate-wank that infects that timeline from the first to make it more "realistic." But it's not like Under L being a nerd would surprise anyone.

Also working on a http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/NinjaPirateZombieRobot storyline that currently features Godzilla up against a zombie sauropod raised by the Shadow-woman, who's going after the Oxygen Destroyer to vanquish a time-displaced invasion of Tyranids that threaten her plan to be the actual threat to a timeline where the USSR won the Cold War. In a world where Daikaiju exist and the US tendency to send its conventional military against Godzilla broke that military because Godzilla shrugged off everything sent against him and million-dollar missiles being recreated broke the USA, where he never goes to Russia.

The subplot features a necrarch from Warhammer entering that same world and seeking to use its magic powers....to find itself in the Soviet Union, facing a superpower military that its powers don't exactly work wonders against. And thus confronting also the irony that Communist faith in the Thesis, Antithesis, and Snythesis is as fatal as faith in Sigmar if not moreso.

How long does it take Forrest to either win the Presidency, or get popular enough to lead a military coup? Pretty much all of the alt.confederate stuff I've seen has had Lee elected to succeed Davis, and possibly Longstreet succeeding Lee. Except, of course, the short story where Chamberlain gets a job at VMI instead of Bowdoin, and beats his kid brother at Little Round Top.

If you're going to do what you're talking about doing, at least be accurate and call it the Liberation of Baltimore. Lincoln locked up Maryland legislators to keep Maryland from seceeding. This, despite the fact that the people of the state were clearly divided on the issues of slavery, secession, and war "to preserve the union". Some faith in "democracy," eh?
