Apparently Keith Olbermann is leaving MSNBC, seeing that he just signed a multi-year contract with the network 2 years ago, this sudden decision is odd. None the less, here is the final few minutes of his last show, and I was surprised: he didn't come off bitter or really all that angry. He actually showed humility and actually some humor. Yahoo News has some more info about this, and possible reasons why here: http://news.yahoo.com/s/yblog_thecutline/20110122/ts_yblog_thecutline/why-is-keith-olbermann-out-of-msnbc#mwpphu-container

Will we ever know why Olbermann left MSNBC? Probably not. I am sure some all conservatives are hooting and hollering in joyous adulation over this, in the same way liberals will be whenever O'Reilly or Hannity leave Fox News. All I can say for that is: "stop being so petty." He's off the air, big whoop, life goes on, and his show didn't change your life, and if it did, there's always hulu and Youtube. All I can ask him not to do is try to return to sports, please.

What do you think, why is he leaving?

I asked because honestly I would've preferred that you had put your opinion in the original post, even if it's just a short remark.

I find it funny that he claimed he was anti-establishment.

You're not anti-establishment when the people you support ARE the establishment.

Still, that was still "establishment Olbermann".

He just favored the slightly less popular establishment.

There's only a few anti-establishment politicians in Washington. And Olbermann really really hates one of them.

He had anti-Obama segments all the damn time. You know how I know? Because I watched his show.

So, being critical of Obama for not being far left enough = being anti-establishment?

I think Maddow is doing the job Olbermann used to do - at some point he just became permanently pissed off and I found he lost credibility in my eyes by making the mistake of taking everything personal.

Olbermann was apeing some kind of sanctimonious, self-righteous warrior of yester-year. His acting was too transparent for me. I know when I'm being a self-righteous, sanctimonious ass, and I sound just like Olbermann when I do. Thus, I can't take him seriously, like I can't take myself seriously when I'm just being a sanctimonious ass for the rhetorical effect.

"It is better to ask some of the questions," he said, "than to know all of the answers."

Ah, Olbermann takes a hint from Socrates or why I think he "isn't just the flip side of the asshole conservative coin".

Just wondering...........

in the same way liberals will be whenever O'Reilly or Hannity leave Fox News.

Never will happen, because there is literally nothing so bad or horrible or wrong you could say or do as a Fox host that would get you fired. It's an accountability-free zone.

fox should hire him so they can get closer to their claim of fair and balanced in regards to their assortment of talking heads. I never watched Olberman so far, but a cohosted Palin Olberman show would be tempting.

I'm a huge Olbermann fan but if he goes to Fox I'll never watch or read anything he writes again. The man has spent the past several years railing against Fox and calling its management horrible things. If he turns around and joins their team, it'll prove him to be a hypocrite.

Palin and Olberman? nah....................
Olberman was the beaming light in the darkest moments when the Bush /Cheney regime was in full force.
I'm afraid Olberman was getting to much like Beck, but on the opposite end. Both are entertainers, but Olberman at least had a brain.
