[identity profile] foxglovehp.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] talkpolitics
I'm new here.  I was sent an invite, and I appreciate it.  I like this community's non-flaming, non-trolling all-parties attitude.  I have been avoiding posting on most of the political communities because, since I tend to be in both liberal and conservative, (and am thus libertarian) camps, I'll post to all of them if I have something to say.  Of course somebody somewhere will accuse me of trolling.

Anyway, I am a career soldier, now in the US Army reserve, and a lifelong Wiccan.  I am constitutionally conservative, and socially liberal.  Please drop by my LJ profile for more info.  Feel free to friend me as well if you like.  I have a fairly thick skin about most things and appreciate a good, reasoned argument where folks can disagree and not get their knickers in a twist about things.

While it's generally not commonplace that people would introduce themselves here (there are 900+ members, so imagine if everyone did), I say why not? Maybe some of us would like to use this thread to tell some more about themselves? Especially those who are kinda new around. I mean we talk around here most of the time but we're not so familiar with each other as we might've liked. People often bicker over policies and political convictions, and they forget that they're more similar than they might imagine. When you bring it down to a personal level we start to realize some things.

I have no doubt that some would now mock you for saying "Hi!" and would even spam you with macros, but what the hell. I'll play the game.

Me: social worker from Johannesburg. My profile says Bloody Pinko Leftieâ„¢ but I'm considered too "right" by my comrades in ANCYL, one of the more leftist organizations in my predominantly leftist dominated country. Hm, did I say predominantly? I meant totally commie-dominated! So yeah, welcome here and I hope your next post will actually contain some issue to discuss. ;-)

That's what we have in common. I consider myself a Reactionary Right Wing Fundie, but most of my friends think I'm too liberal (especially my wife)

You know that theory? It says the political spectrum is like a circle, and if you go far enough to either side, you'd end up at the opposite side. ;-)

They assume the same about the curvature of space in the universe, but you never know.

Well that's generally what we aim here for, yes.
