Allright fellows. Spotlight week is over. It was quite hectic, but IMO it was worth it in the long run. Got some impressions? Rants? :)
Naturally, the Health Care Week went a bit unnoticed in the process, but on the other hand the issue had been beaten off so much previously that i'm not sure there has remained a single point within it which hasnt been touched at least a dozen times before.
And here's your choice for Topic of the Week (05.04 / 11.04).
"Political satire, parody and entertainment"
Lets simply call it Satire Week. Now this is curious. It could be a vast subject, and the upside is, it could get pretty entertaining, which is a nice way to chill after a hectic week, isnt it?
Important notice: Let me just remind everybody that, even if you've got to post images (i presume loads of cartoons and macros are being prepared now), or videos, or anecdotes, etc, still Rule #8 applies. Namely, you'll have to add a personal analysis/commentary/opinion there, so here's where it gets more brain-stimulating ;) Please keep in mind that this is not
politicartoons or
ontd_political . The focus in every post should be your personal position on said piece of external material. Posts that contain a single link, some copy-pasted article or an embedded Youtube video without any substantial comment will get removed, often without the usual one-hour notice.
Also, you might like to use Lj-Cut to hide particularly large objects (images, videos, etc). After all, i'm sure most readers would be annoyed to have their f-lists constantly being overwhelmed with posts that make little to no sense, and where the quality is so low that the discussion that ensues is usually as nonsensical as the post itself. While it can admittedly be amusing at times, this isnt the purpose of this forum. I think you'll notice that posts engaging the issue of political humor/satire in a sensible, comprehensive and informative way would garner more support and constructive response, as opposed to the ones whose sole purpose is to spam people, or stir controversy, or just demonstrate what an awesome collection of funny materials you got. ;)
That being said, here are some points which could be included in the subject:
- Political jokes & anecdotes.
- Political cartoons, posters & macros.
- Political infotainment & pundits.
- Spoof news & parody journalism.
- The funny side of the media.
- Political jargon & the use of political terms.
- The gaffes of the politicians.
- Pranks on and by politicians.
- Really stupid politicians.
- Politics in music.
- Political comedy in cinema & theater.
- Where humor meets serious journalism.
- Politics in art.
- Parody religions.
- Parody parties & political movements.
- Racism, sexism, classism in political satire.
- Jokes/cliches about foreigners.
- Political parables.
And here's the poll for next week's Weekly Topic (12.04 / 18.04)
