NBC News and the Wall Street Journal released some interesting poll figures today; and the results are a mixed bag of good news and bad news for the President and the Republican party. While voters are pretty fed up with Republican performance on health care, the GOP can take some solace that a very large majority of Democratic voters that are so fed up, they would vote anyone out, including their own Democratic candidates. President Obama can take great hope in how close the figures are action on the current bill(s) in Congress.

Do you approve or disapprove of Congress?

Do you approve how President Obama is handling health care?

Should Congress pass or not pass the current health care reform bill?

Approve or disapprove of how Republicans are handling health care?

Here's a video clip with Chuck Todd and Brian Williams:

Funny how the Republicans don't get a face!

Oh right--they aren't touting any ideas--no front man for *their* movement.
Why do they always say start from scratch? Don't *they* have any ideas? Don't scratch those! Tout them!

Not my job. It's the media that's failing here.

Republicans are counting on friends like Dennis Kucinich to help them out.

"This is not the bill I wanted to support," Kucinich said. "However after careful discussions with President Obama, Speaker Pelosi, my wife Elizabeth and friends, I decided to cast a vote in favor of the legislation."

He didn't have much of a risk. The deadline to have someone primary against him already passed.

I not only disapprove of Congress. I also disapprove of the people in the Senate, the Judiciary branch, and Whatshisname over in the Executive branch. Fuck 'em.

It used to be that the Gallup Poll was the gold standard of polling. Now, just pick a result and find a poll to match.

I wonder how many people are upset with the ideas vs the process. If you asked me I would say I disapprove of Obama's handling of health care and think that Congress is full of fuckups, but at the same time I don't think the health care bill goes far enough, though I am fine with it passing.

My biggest issue is that I am really tired of the bipartisanship fetish that everyone seems to have. I don't really give a shit if republicans vote for things or not. All I want is my Supposedly liberal president to do liberal things and to stop obsessing over process and appearance.

The problem with polls that show the public doesn't want this bill is, it doesn't explain why. All the people who are against it because it is not single payer, get lumped into the same category as the folks who want the government to keep it's hands of their Medicare. Polling for a public option has been consistently in the majority. People want to be able to afford health care. Everything else is a distraction.

None of these figures matter until 3 mos prior to the 2012 election. Obama's style is to let things stew until about that time, then come on strong. This is exactly what he did with the health care bills. It is part of political theater, so one might as well make some popcorn and enjoy watching politicians on both sides take their pratfalls.

It's not Congress...

... but the people who elected them. I say America should walk away from Redneckistan and allow it to sink on its own without pulling down the rest of the region.
