Bold (and possibly foolish) prediction: Seeing Trump treated as an ordinary criminal will break the hold he has on the remaining center-leaning independents. Jack Smith and Alvin Bragg providing Trump with the due respect of an ex-President even as they indicted him afforded him the imprimatur of his former office. Watching him fingerprinted and photographed just as any mugger or meth dealer would be sort of breaks that image.

Sounds like a nice jail. 1.5 rating.

The real question is whether there is such a thing anymore as a "center-leaning independent" in the United States. I fear that anyone who still supports Trump after all that happens will still continue to support him, regardless of what happens to him legally. They will just rationalize that this makes him even more worthy of support. Meanwhile, the GOP has leaned fully into "look out for those scary minorities!" in the hopes that this will distract their base from the legal proceedings - or at least present someone for the base to blame come election time for said proceedings. Any violence proceeding from this strategy will, of course, be a total coincidence, I am sure.
