The US president pays less in federal income taxes than the majority if Americans do. Here's the expected 'October surprise' coming early this election cycle.

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2020/sep/27/new-york-times-publishes-donald-trumps-tax-returns-election

Not surprisingly, Trump's tax records expose his utter duplicity for everyone to see. We all expected this, and we knew this is why he was so desperately trying to avoid disclosing his tax returns before the 2016 election.

The timing is pretty devastating for him, less than a couple of months before the election - a time when he's already been on the defensive about his trustworthiness (as if we ever had any doubts that he lacks any). If this doesn't sink his campaign, then nothing will.

My fave part? He writes off money he gives Ivanka calling her a contractor. (But then, wouldn't she have to claim that as income?)

So basically, he's not a winner, since he's been filing losses for over two decades?

I mean his hemorrhaging money isn't exactly a secret, there's been plenty of things written about it that talk about it. The man's managed to fail to run profitable things like casinos that seem damn near foolproof to do so, and he's had a consistent string of failure at doing everything except being a lesser Mussolini clone.

His base could see him offering a pyramid of skulls to Khorne and they'd switch from Jesus to Khorne to pwn the libs, as that's their entire movement in a nutshell, so...it won't make any differences. The GOP has less than zero interest in fixing the ability of the rich to pay nothing at all in taxes, too.

That about sums it up!

Trump could murder his finances in the middle of 5th avenue and not a single one of his believers would lose faith.

Their loyalty isn't about anything concrete. It's about loyalty.

If you're right, it's not the October Surprise that Trump had in mind to inflict upon the rest of us. Nor the one the Republicans in general have in mind for our futures.

It won't even come close. I recall maddow having a similar blockbuster bombshell about Trumps taxes a few years back, I think everyone had moved on to the next outrage of the day by the next morning.

I think Trump comes out of all these scandals for two main reasons;

A) Theres rarely, if ever, a sympathetic victim

B) the left doesnt have different levels of concern/ attention - every last thing is huge, monumental, the most important thing ever. We've all heard that top quote a thousand times before concerning a thousand different 'scandals', and because of this, every story feels like the 'trump gets an extra scoop of ice cream' story.

With so many monumental scandals coming from Trump's corner, what do you expect...

That’s because you chaps haven’t really been run by actual criminals for decades until now.

The U.K. is going down a similar road, so I’m not condescending, merely sympathising.

But do step back and ask yourself how many other Presidents have broken so many ethical, moral, legal, and constitutional norms?

(Your Post Office is mentioned in the Constitution, BTW.)

Do trump supporters cover their eyes and plug their ears for his misdeeds? Absolutely.

But anyone who believes the last administration was 'scandal free!' is on the same level.

You're really making a comparison with Obama?

Really?

Wow.

It was more a comparison of their supporters tendencies to look the other way. Luckily for Obama, the 'out of sight out of mind' attitude towards his actions was much easier with the media on his side. If you disagree, please link me to a 2010-2016 article/editorial whining about 'Obama is ripping kids from their mother's arms and throwing them in cages!'.

As "Have I Got News For You" tweeted:

‘This could be the one that finishes him’ say experts, as Donald Trump suffers 839th career-ending scandal of his presidency.

They do say the 839th time is the charm.

That said, if this isn't some tale of woe some accountant has spun for the benefit of the IRS and he really is in bad financial shape, this is the one that will actually hit him right in the ego. It probably won't cost any votes however. As long as he support pro-life supreme court nominees and Biden doesn't, he's probably at the lower limit of his support.

Also, these are obviously going to be the most significant presidential debates ever.

Just saw this both in the group and in yesterday's edition of What the Fuck Just Happened Today? which is a must-read imho. Anyone who hasn't been to http://www.whatthefuckjusthappenedtoday.com , check it out. Haven't yet checked this article out in detail myself but will do so shortly. But I think I, too, saw this coming. Shocking nonetheless.
