"Americans Who Died in War Are ‘Losers’ and ‘Suckers’"

This, from the same Donald Trump who has repeatedly lobbied New York to ban "unsightly" disabled veterans from the sidewalks outside his gold tower.

"Trump has been, for the duration of his presidency, fixated on staging military parades, but only of a certain sort. In a 2018 White House planning meeting for such an event, Trump asked his staff not to include wounded veterans, on grounds that spectators would feel uncomfortable in the presence of amputees. “Nobody wants to see that,” he said."

This, from the same Donald Trump who said John McCain is "a loser" for allowing himself to get caught, and also "not a war hero".

It will be interesting to find out how many veterans will continue to support The Grump. Some of the Generals he has called losers were well liked by the troops. He has respect for 'honorable' traitors but not for valiant heroes. His faithful followers are spitting on the graves of our heritage and proclaiming that this country is not exceptional, but just a petty bully like our leader.

Has there been a better time to pose this recurring hypothetical question? What would have happened if President Obama had made those contemptuous statements about the military, military service and the giving of one's life while serving in uniform?

The "nobody" in "nobody wants to see that" translates into "Nobody whose opinion matters to me wants to see that". President Obama would have been ended, one way or another, had he expressed such sentiments at all, let alone done so from an honest place.

I don't think Obama ever would have been so crass to make a statement like that. That being said, hypothetically if he had, he would have been done. There is a lot of shit Trump can get away with that Obama would have never been able to get away with, and I think we all know why.

I want to say that of everything Trump has done so far, this has been one of the things to piss me off the most. My grandfather was in the service and so was an ex of mine, and several friends of mine. It's bad enough our country treats vets like absolute garbage (I've heard enough VA horror stories to write a book), it is absolutely repre-fucking-hensible that our Commander in Chief makes such vile comments about the people in uniform. Say what you will about our tendency to play world police and get involved in wars we shouldn't be in (for example, I think we have no business being in the Middle East), take that up with the people in charge rather than average Joe or Jane who enlists because they're poor and something like the GI Bill is their ticket out of poverty (or in my grandpa's case, he was drafted and he was fighting the Nazis). I consider Trump a piece of trash for everything else he's done in office, but this shocked and horrified me. Not even Johnson talks about England's military like that. I can't even.

Couldn't've said it better myself. Just yesterday I was at my sister and brother-in-law's for a cookout. He did a tour in Iraq, and one in Afghanistan. These were still while dating my sister, and then they proposed on New Year's Eve of 2004, shortly after he completed both tours. He then taught at West Point, where my nephew was born in 2010. Yesterday we were talking about Trump, and we all agree that he just simply doesn't care and is unfit for office. But I could've been telling you that all this time, lol. My brother-in-law is now only doing reserve duty, because of the kids and because of a recent bout with lymphoma. Okay that was a little over 4 years ago and he's not had a recurrence. Just saying though. I'm off to get functional for the day, and then look at another website recommended by a neighbor about Republicans who are voting against Grump.

It's the usual answer to, "What if Obama literally any of this?" Given Republican reaction to much more tenuous Obama "scandals", he'd have been impeached for far less.
