This piece has made my day. Apparently, a barista at a San Diego Starbucks cafe has refused to serve a customer who didn't wear a mask (against the Starbucks policy). She got angry, and decided to take a pic of him, and then rant about it on her FB wall, hoping to embarrass the guy (named Lenen Gutierrez).
Things didn't turn out good for her, though. ;-)
"Meet lenen from Starbucks who refused to serve me cause I’m not wearing a mask. Next time I will wait for cops and bring a medical exemption."
The whole thing backfired very badly eventually. An overwhelming majority of the readers mocked her for her behavior, and one even started a tipping campaign in favor of Lenen.
He got $ 60K within a week from about 5K donations. He's now planning to invest the money to start a dancing school for kids.
Curiously, the lady was exposed as an anti-vaxxer, a mother of 3 (poor little kids, I pity them), and, apart from that spat in the cafe, she doesn't seem to mind frequently wearing all sorts of masks, as is seen from her photos (as multiple FB users have noticed and pointed out in the comments).
This of course potentially brings up a lot of points about entitlement, flouting the rules of public safety for various pretexts, public responsibility, even some race issues from what I'm hearing around the comment sections... For what it's worth, I'm just glad the whole thing has played out the way it has. Gives me a little more hope for humanity - or at least, the American part thereof. ;-)
