So, Trump has banned travel from Europe (first he sowed confusion by alleging he was banning ALL trade of goods from Europe, then had to backtrack and "make clarifications", on Twitter of course), hoping to defeat the coronavirus with more of his nativism.
Then he used his beautiful mouth (the most beautiful on Earth) to essentially paint a rosy picture of a thriving economy and a nation that's the "best-prepared nation on Earth".
Well, sorry to rain on your party, Mr President Douche, Sir, but your economy is already taking major hits from the outbreak. And it's not the Europeans' fault. Furthermore, your travel ban is going to sink all those nice big air carriers that are the backbone of your economy. But you didn't think of that, did you. No, you didn't.
As for the travel ban, it won't help even one bit. Blaming and isolating foreigners is not an adequate response. But I guess that's just par for the course, yet another page right out of his playbook.
Just look how Merkel is handling this. She was solemn yet sober, she gave the facts, she leaned upon the science (well, unlike the Golfer-In-Chief, she's actually got a scientific background, and a medical one). She didn't spare her people the truth, and now they'll be prepared for whatever comes their way.
What the Don could've said is, look, this is some serious stuff. We'll take all workable measures, then we'll see how it goes within the next couple of weeks, re-assess, and see how serious things are. You folks need to practice social distancing voluntarily now, so we don't have to force you to do it later. You know, stuff like that.
But of course he didn't do that, did he? Because asking people to do the right thing would've been too much for him. Instead, he's going to blame others for his failures yet again. This time, they'll be failures on a massive, deadly scale.
Now you know the facts.
