President Barack Obama's economic recovery program saved 935 jobs at the Southwest Georgia Community Action Council, an impressive success story for the stimulus plan. Trouble is, only 508 people work there.

The Georgia nonprofit's inflated job count is among persisting errors in the government's latest effort to measure the effect of the $787 billion stimulus plan despite White House promises last week that the new data would undergo an "extensive review" to root out errors discovered in an earlier report.

About two-thirds of the 14,506 jobs claimed to be saved under one federal office, the Administration for Children and Families at Health and Human Services, actually weren't saved at all, according to a review of the latest data by The Associated Press. Instead, that figure includes more than 9,300 existing employees in hundreds of local agencies who received pay raises and benefits and whose jobs weren't saved.

That type of accounting was found in an earlier AP review of stimulus jobs, which the Obama administration said was misleading because most of the government's job-counting errors were being fixed in the new data.

It's getting too easy to prove the wasteful nature of the spendulous package.  Obama has done nothing since taking office but break promises and raise taxes on the middle and lower classes.

I have been talking about this on my blog and note there are two important points you can take (beyond the sheer waste of the stimulus spending).

First: bureaucracies will always feather their own nests to the largest extent possible. So much for being "better" than those evil "profit driven" private companies, eh?

Second: this is precisely how this administration wishes to conduct the census.

Care to source your second point or just admit that it's paranoid hyperbole?

No wingnut who employs the word "census" in a conversation has a prayer of ever being anything but a wingnut.

Positive point about the Census

If they inflat the numbers they will stop saying "we are five percent of the worlds population and use twenty five percent of the resources" because they'll have increased the minority population so much we'll be okay. 25% of the population and 25% of the worlds resources.

So since you're responding elsewhere and nothing but dial-tone here, I guess that will count as a retraction of your claim.

I know, it's surprising that Obama can find the money to spend after Bush Administration Adds $4 Trillion To National Debt (http://www.cbsnews.com/blogs/2008/09/29/couricandco/entry4486228.shtml)

And Obama added nearly four trillion in one year!

But then Obama is proving to be everything that Bush was and so much more, right? :D

Well, if we're going to talk Native American Presidents, do you think that an Oneida would be better to run the United States as compared to a Navajo? Or should we turn to electing a Haida President as he's part of a Native Tribe that had a hierarchical society that survived colonialism more or less intact. Personally, in terms of leadership I'd go with someone from the Haudenosaunee as they at minimum indirectly influenced us, as opposed to the Haida, but WTFever.

[citation needed] on the bit about raising taxes on the middle and lower classes. As many times as you guys have said it, I still haven't seen a single shred of evidence that it's happening.

we need more stimulous spending to get the economy going, not less. Also, when did Obama raise taxes on the poor and middle class?

because it isn't true -- Bush had only falling jobs counts to report, and Obama can't be held responsible for other people failing at math.
