He may have a problem with the er, um... moral to be drawn from the historical example, but that’s just fake analysis on my part... probably.
Alcohol does blunt the awfulness of it all somewhat; but I think this pain needs stronger analgesia. This is, after all, the era of the synthetic opioid crisis as well as the era of fake news.
