A cautionary lesson lost on later generations that seek rational motives where there are no guarantees this ever existed or will ever exist, when the actors that release the maledictions and cruelties of war invariably tend to act under the hubris that the demons, once roused, can be bound and loosed at the whim of the brutes and thugs that decide to rouse them. That this almost invariably fails is never the deterrent, for the only lesson learned is that more cruelty, more lies, and more folly will meet the rewards that their previous iterations denied them.

( Evidently in May there really was a genuine Iranian attack on Norway for some odd reason. Why does anyone but Norway care about Norway again?  )
