But worry not, lest the USA allow Russia a monopoly on particular brands of evil and incompetence, the USA has managed to match official Stalinist statistics (which based on explorations of post-USSR archives undercount by anywhere from 35/50% knowingly falsifying original records, so.....) on prisons. Where Soviet prisons had the crude accountability of being state-run enterprises where being too stupidly brutal to a point of initiating major uprisings equalled Comrade Beria giving you a bullet in the brain, US prisons are privatized for profit dystopian hellholes where American political culture in its usual perverse baying refuses to exercise any accountability whatsoever.
The USA tends, as a general rule, to be more deliberately and foolishly stupid than actual dictatorships, which know all too well the perils of producing mighty bureaucracies accustomed to fire and sword and deliberate murder and looting for profit that aren't rigidly controlled themselves. Who forgets to watch the watchmen becomes ruled by said individuals. In the USA no amount of shameless blatant lies are allowed to be questioned as such even when they are physically impossible:

In sowing all this for itself, the USA sows a harvest of poison with seeds of blood that when it comes due shall lead to horrific and entirely avoidable effects had the USA ever displayed the least hint or will or wit to be the remotest pretense of a civilized society.
