Yeah, you knew this was coming. Now that Election Day is upon y'all, my American friends, here's the place to dump all our stories, reports, projections, speculations, impressions, and rants about the voting.

It's been a wild, wild race. And some may've prayed that it could be over way ago. Still, it's going to be a thrilling, if a bit anxious day for everyone. The long campaign is coming to a climactic ending.

Hillary Clinton sounded confident yesterday as she sought to cut off any path to the coveted 270 electoral votes for opponent Donald Trump. The billionaire, for his part, promised that his supporters would propel him to a surprise victory. Both have crisscrossed the country during one of the most frantic stretches of the campaign, featuring dozens of appearances in a number of separate rallies heading into Election Day.

Polls have been rolling in by the hour, the majority showing Mrs Clinton with the edge nationally. The picture may look a bit different as far as the Senate and House are concerned, though.

And let's not forget that there are tens of local referenda on various issues, from gun control to minimum wages to legalising pot - plus the gubernatorial races. But the biggest of them all is the presidential election, which could be viewed as a referendum on hate and division in some sense.

But, without further ado, let's go to all the coverage, yo!

First off, the Full Timetable of the election can be seen here.

Trump and Clinton will be almost within shouting distance on election night - in New York. Let's hope this won't cause direct skirmishes between their supporters.

As [livejournal.com profile] chron_job said in the previous post, Hills' win leads inevitably towards constant investigation. Stop Trump then impeach Hills.

Politics is pretty fucked in America.

Dude's been preaching the end of America since before Obama was elected. In eight years, when Clinton's term is up and two more people are racing towards the White House in another election, you can bet he'll still be right there, preaching the end of elections, the end of Democracy, and the "death of the west" should his chosen horse fail to finish.

I guess such consistency could be seen as comforting, in a twisted sort of way.

I wonder if Trump and Clinton are really that bad, really that polarizing?

Sure, most signs point to yes - but honestly, in some alternate reality where we're picking between Carson and Webb or Jindal and Sanders - I think it got just as nasty - I bet we, as a country, acted the same way and said most of the same things...

(no subject)

Date: 8/11/16 16:10 (UTC)

I doubt it. Jindal, as much as I dislike him, has a history and experience in public office and a far as I know, does not have a history of grabbing women by their genitals.

No, Trump and Clinton are not "really that bad, really that polarizing."

Trump is that bad, that polarizing.

Anything a candidate says can be used in a commercial, right? Well, at the end of everyones official non-superpac commercials, in races at most every level - the candidate usually says 'My name is (Bob), and I approve this message'.

Why the hell doesn't (Bob)'s opponent just take Bob saying that and then put it at the end of their commercial where they talk about how shitty (Bob) is?

This wasn't worth an entire post, and I couldn't find a nonsense post that it fit into - so here it goes.

Will someone please tell me why (and this is a question I've been asking repeatedly for months or longer) after more than twenty years of constant and consistent fine-tooth-comb investigation into almost every aspect of Hills life, the fact that nothing of any significance has been found hasn't changed people's opinions of her excepting for the worse? If she had been young person picked on like that by the police, as some young folk are, she would have had good recourse to claim harassment. And it makes her the bad guy? In comparison to almost anyone from either party standing, her life has been investigated forensically, and the lack of action forthcoming doesn't appear to tell people anything apart from conspiracy of a tin-foil-hat kind.

I just wish some folk could think.

No matter what happens from this moment - Trump wins or Trump barely loses - here is a non-partisan absolute fact - Kellyanne Conway is a goddamn miracle worker.

Future republican candidates, and even democrats - if they can find her price - would be crazy not to bring her on.

DAILY QUOTE:
"The NATO charter clearly says that any attack on a NATO member shall be treated, by all members, as an attack against all. So that means that, if we attack Greenland, we'll be obligated to go to war against ... ourselves! Gee, that's scary. You really don't want to go to war with the United States. They're insane!"
