Here we go again.

Last time I started a live thread - in the first debate - I gave advice on potential greeting bets. With the new information on Donalds unorthodox greeting techniques....I'm not even going to touch that this time.

Some news came out the last few days about both candidates - but was it really news? Did anything, about either candidate, surprise you?

I'm not crazy about the town hall style - people ask stupid questions - yes, more stupid than the plants by regular journalists - but I hope to be surprised this time.

Good strategy or bad bringing up Bill's shit? The people that it bothers aren't going to change their mind, the people that have given him a pass aren't changing theirs either - I guess it couldn't hurt though?

I admit, I didn't watch the debate. This is the first one in a decade I've missed and have no real interest in watching... at least not sober, so I can only based this on reports I've read of the debate.

That said, my take is that this is as much about making Mr. Trump feel better about himself as to get voters. Mr. Clinton's behavior was pretty atrocious, he had several credible sexual misconduct charges against him and didn't seem to stop once he became president. Quite a few people were willing to separate their view of Mr. Clinton's private life from their view of his presidency. To be honest, I see a lot of parallels. That said, Mr. Clinton was president quite a while ago and bringing this up isn't going to win Mr. Trump any votes. This makes him sound kinda like a five year old making excuses after being caught doing something bad. Well, a five year old with a dash of sexual predator thrown in.

A rich moron is being crucified for verbally objectifying women - and in the meantime, Kim Kardashian who got her start from sucking dick in a crappy home porn vid is getting glorified in the media like the Queen for all teenage girls to worship and emulate... This society is so fucking hypocritical... If women really did care about how they are betrayed, the Kardashians wouldn't be the biggest celebrities in the USA.

Meanwhile, the hypocrisy of a corporate shill who pretends to be the "voice of the middle class" and is preparing to rule over that middle class in the next 4 to 8 years, is getting swept somewhere under the rug.

You know, now that I've watched parts and bits of this debate throughout the day (I may gather some more masochism in me to watch the entirety of it later), I actually found myself enjoying it at some point. In a fascinatingly morbid sort of way. And I thought to myself, gawd, either of these two being America's next president is gunna be just... sooo... beautiful! So here's a quandary. Am I too evil?

Did this..... person... just threaten a political opponent with persecution in case he somehow gets the highest position of power? This alone disqualifies anyone from the position of leader of any democracy, let alone the most influential one in the world.

Exactly.

This is what lifts our choice way above what is typical in an American election. The stakes here are terrifyingly high.

I don't know what is in the minds of Republican leadership. Perhaps they are justifying this to themselves by imagining the actual acting president would be not Trump, but Pence (which would be bad enough.)
