A sign language (also signed language or simply signing) is a language which uses manual communication and body language to convey meaning, as opposed to acoustically conveyed sound patterns. This can involve simultaneously combining hand shapes, orientation and movement of the hands, arms or body, and facial expressions to fluidly express a speaker's thoughts. Sign languages differ from country to country. Very often several countries share the same sing language, but sometimes there are more than one sign languages in single country. This can lead to some misunderstanding.
For example, "thumbs up" gesture means disapproval in Thailand and is equal to showing middle finger in Iran

"Okay", "That`s all right" - we say by circling a thumb and a forefinger and undrawing the three other fingers. The same sign means "zero" in France (often that means personal value of the person one talks to) and "homosexual" in Turkey.

The most interesting is the fig sign (figa, kookish, doolia, nah) which is a mildly obscene gesture used in Turkish and Slavic cultures, but not equal to the finger in Anglo-American culture

While in Slavic countries this gesture means "refuse", "you won`t get it", "no way", in Japan it means "sex", in Kenya "five" and in Brazil it`s "good luck!"
What I`m leading to is a loud (and unsound at that) hysteria raised about a couple of short videos:

We see refugees showing some line across their throats. Some xenophobes interpret those gestures in the most threatening ways, inciting disaffection and hatred. I totally disagree with them. Those teenagers showed that they were "fed up" with Assad`s regime and were happy to come to Numenor at last (Valinor over the ocean is still out of their reach). Or there may be even a simplier explanation: European journalists have waited for the arrival of those refugees for a rather long time and their appearance could have faltered. So the guys simply asked the journalists to mend their ties.
There are few things that harm more than misunderstanding.
