Trump slams McCain for being ‘captured’ in Vietnam; other Republicans quickly condemn him

"Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump slammed Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), a decorated Vietnam War veteran, on Saturday by saying McCain was not a war hero because he was captured by the North Vietnamese. “He’s not a war hero,” Trump said. Sarcastically, Trump quipped, “He’s a war hero because he was captured.” Then, he added, “I like people that weren’t captured.”"

Gotta feel bad for the Republicans at this point. These primaries are going to be a mud-slinging festival. That said, there's of course only one possible way to respond to this: SCREW YOU, Donald Trump.

The most curious part: from the early polls, seems like Trump is actually going to be a formidable factor on the political scene that other players will have to take into account. Because lots of people on the right actually happen to follow every word he says with, "Yeah, what he said". Some have argued that he's the only one who dares to say what others want to say but dare not. I.e. he's some kind of hero with "guts". Gutty guts of some sort. Even if it's the guts to be an idiotic asshole.

So yeah, don't underestimate the idiot vote. As pathetic as the idiots' champion may look at a first sight, he could actually be tapping into a gold mine over there. Even despite crossing one line after another. Or maybe exactly because of it.

I really hope that the GOP crashes and burns collectively again this election cycle because of idiots like Trump and Santorum and whoever else has crowded into the clown car now. I've stopped keeping track.

If Hillary (or Bernie- woot!) get into the White House in 2016, it will be very interesting to see what excuses the GOP can come up with.

Tricky spot here for the Republicans - they can't all turn on Trump now. With this much time to run as independent, it essentially gives the win to the Dems.

They'll have to string him along. Even if there isn't a definite deadline for independent entry - anyone have a guess on a theoretical one? They'll have to keep him in the game until whenever that is.

Trump is a very strong argument in favor of instant-runoff voting. Unfortunately, I fear only the party with more to lose (clearly the GOP in this cycle, assuming Sanders doesn't lose the primary and go Indie) would "become enlightened" to this, and very quickly forget later on when they realize it threatens to roast them over the third-party fire.
