Friday is generally a day for lighter posts, I gather. So here's just a poll. Assume you're voting in either the Republican or Democratic primaries right now. And choose a nominee. Then vote for either of your two chosen nominees in the 3rd part of the poll. Let's see where this goes.

[Poll #2016535]

[Poll #2016536]

[Poll #2016537]

For the record, offering a few words about why you've chosen the way you have, might also be interesting.

Thanks!

I just voted for the presumed frontrunners, as if to skip through all that bullshit in the primaries. And then chose independent because you didn't put the "Other" option. I'd just put a ballot with the words, You All Suck.

Because it doesn't really make such a big difference which of them all it would be.

Republican: Trump, because watching him actually have to run a real campaign (instead of the "pay attention to me and give me money" show he tries every four years) would give me the same vicarious thrill as watching a slow motion train wreck,

Also, his chances of actually winning the Presidency are somewhere between zil and nilch.

Democratic: Bernie Sanders, because I honestly think he's the best candidate right now.

I'd've loved to re-watch the Trumpster descend upon the unwashed masses on that aaawesome elevator...

Bush III vs Clinton II all the way! Let's see which of the two dynastic puppets the God-chosen people would choose.

Also, isn't it fascinating how if you look at any online forum, you'd be left with the impression that Bernie Sanders is about to destroy and humiliate every fucking contender that dares to cross his way on these elections?

Well if we are being honest, Sanders is basically the Democratic mirror of Dr. Paul.

I honestly hope he's the nominee, cause as much as I'd like Walker to be president I have to the admire Sanders for his conviction.

I've narrowed my choices, but actually am undecided.
As far as Dems go, I would go with Bernie for 2 reasons:
1) what he says sounds good (if you don't think about where all the money is going to come from) and
2) no way could he ever win.

Oh don't worry, Bernie COULD very well win Iowa, New Hampshire, but then come Nevada and South Carolina primaries, and he will likely loose all the rest of the primaries. Bernie Saunders will have a hard time, according to Nate Silver, due to very low percentages of white liberal Democratic voters (South Carolina = 17 percent), which means he will likely loose.

Nate Silver: Bernie Sanders Could Win Iowa And New Hampshire. Then Lose Everywhere Else. (http://fivethirtyeight.com/datalab/bernie-sanders-could-win-iowa-and-new-hampshire-then-lose-everywhere-else/) There is a chart of percentages of white liberal Democrats in the primary states, and it isn't good for Bernie, and better for Hillary Clinton.

Put another way, Iowa and New Hampshire aren’t representative of the more diverse electorates that Democrats will turn out elsewhere. It just so happens that the idiosyncrasies of the first two states match Sanders’s strengths and Clinton’s relative weaknesses.

Clinton performed well among Hispanic voters in 2008, and while her failure to win African-American votes was a central reason her campaign failed, she now has excellent favorability ratings among black voters that are nearly as high as Barack Obama’s. If Clinton begins to see her support erode among those groups, her campaign will have some real reason for concern. Otherwise, just as was the case throughout the 2008 campaign, the media will misconstrue voting patterns that occur because of demographics and attribute them to “momentum” instead.

To be fair, if Bernie won Iowa and New Hampshire, wouldn't that increase his visibility to a point where it could affect all other results? We keep finding that as soon as people see the full breadth of his platform, many convert to his side.

According to Silver, sadly, no.

An interesting article about Sanders and Trump here (http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2015/07/11/confederate-flag-treated-like-fallen-hero.html).

I'm sorry, the link was to a relevant article at first, but that site seems to be changing URLs over the day.

I actually took a little 'Which candidate should you vote for?" online quiz, and my highest match was Santorum at 64%.

I'm not sure what to do at this point - maybe bathe in paint thinner, or ammonia - maybe some bottom shelf tequila to punish cleanse my insides.

Can't help noticing how conservatives would prefer the convenient commie for opponent so they could easily defeat him, and liberals prefer the crazy clown for opponent - for the same reason. That'd make their candidate look so much more moderate!

While that is certainly factor, I also feel that there is a certain honor among foes and I would much prefer an honest debate between Sanders and someone like Paul or Walker than the empty and corrupt political theater to which we have grown accustomed.

DAILY QUOTE:
"The NATO charter clearly says that any attack on a NATO member shall be treated, by all members, as an attack against all. So that means that, if we attack Greenland, we'll be obligated to go to war against ... ourselves! Gee, that's scary. You really don't want to go to war with the United States. They're insane!"
