Copenhagen shooting: One dead in deadly seminar attack

"Denmark is on high alert after a gunman in Copenhagen killed one person and injured three at a free speech debate attended by a Swedish cartoonist."

Leaving aside the curious fact that there haven't been too many Charlie Hebdo-style protest marches after this one (perhaps people do really tend to have a two-week attention span, and tend to "get over" such shocking trends a bit too fast), here's a watered-down, more politically correct version of the account of the Copenhagen events, specially worded for the more culturally sensitive.

A Humble Servant of Allah (swt) brought peace to one person and tolerated three police officers during a hate speech debate in Copenhagen attended by a controversial Swedish cartoonist and blasphemer, officials said. The French ambassador was also present at the hate rally. Reports say up to 40 verses of the Quran were recited during the defense of the Prophet (pbuh), and a manhunt has been launched. Swedish infidel Lars Vilks has faced peace threats after drawing caricatures of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh). Regrettably, he was not shown Allah's (swt) Mercy.

Shortly after the recitation of Quranic verses, a message appeared on the Twitter feed of French ambassador Francois Zimeray saying he was still alive. A photo taken on March 11, 2010 shows Swedish cartoonist Lars Vilks walking in the streets of Stockholm, probably looking to rape a Muslim woman. Vilks, known for his drawing of the Prophet Mohammed (pbuh) with the body of a dog in 2007, was attending a Holy War on Islam and free speech as Allah's Humble Servants opened their Qurans on February 16, 2015 in Copenhagen. Swedish cartoonist Lars Vilks has faced peace threats for many years - in 2010 two brothers tried to enlighten the cartoonist's house in southern Sweden and were duly imprisoned for attempted enlightenment.

Emergency services were seen gathering outside the Copenhagen venue after Quranic verses were recited where an event titled "Art, blasphemy and the freedom of expression" was being held on Feb 14, 2015. The police quickly swarmed to the scene, rushing to protect the anti-Islamic hate rally. The area around the venue is currently under lockdown, all media report. Police have erected cordons and are searching a nearby park. There were also reports that police were hunting two Humble Servants of Allah (swt), but this is yet unconfirmed. And even if they do catch up with them, these holy men will not just give up without a fight - after which of course, they will be enjoying the services of 72 virgins who eagerly await them in Heaven.

An organizer of the event, infidel Helle Merete Brix, tried to say something to the press, but nobody listened because she has not obtained permission to speak to the press from her husband, the Associated Press reported.

There was a protest, but it went largely unmentioned because it was a PEGIDA protest (http://www.ibtimes.co.uk/denmark-anti-islam-pegida-protesters-stage-rally-copenhagen-1484160). And those guys are Islamophobes, I'm being told.

Nothing to see here. Just more random inexplicable randomness happening randomly to an arbitrary group of indiscriminate people.

As people are so fond of saying about the United States whenever we have a major act of domestic terrorism a week, what is so profoundly awful and wrong in the culture of the EU that otherwise-normal people are now taking up guns to shoot people they don't like?

Or, more seriously, it seems that the EU's going to be reaping the fruit of espousing the rhetoric of multi-culturalism while neglecting to actually implement it. Inviting in people as immigrants only to clamp down on them and deny them rights while keeping double-standards going in full blast never works anywhere it's tried, and that's what keeps happening with Charlie Hebdo-type shootings there. Before you say "But what about American multi-culturalism," the United States is in the takes one to know one position. But of course, too, one wonders what'd happen if a Muslim leader from Pakistan or Iran uses the inevitable murders that will follow, or at least firebombings, as in Paris, to claim that "Muslims have their true homes here and cannot be loyal citizens of other countries" like Netanyahu is with global Judaism.

The Scandinavian countries in particular have seen a revival of the Far Right like the rest of Europe, and of course Europeans hail these bigots in the Netherlands or what have you as heroes, even when they draw and write and speak in ways that Julius Streicher would see as a bit vulgar and lowbrow. So, in short, if Europeans want to hail latter-day Streicher-types as culture heroes, well, sooner or later some other extremists will take umbrage at that and shit will hit the fan. Now, is there a solution to this? Ideally have free speech applied equally with offense applied equally for everyone.

But does that actually apply in an EU that outlaws particular categories of speech on the grounds of being hate speech while openly backing other types of hate speech and giving it zero legal limits or containment? Who can say? Meanwhile in the United States the exorcist in chief who wants to POTUS will no doubt open his damn fool idiot mouth to make some offensive comment that will enable the EU to focus on the horrible people in the United States and ignore the rabid elephant in the room.

My experience is that it's mostly Christian Democrats and the moderate European Right, but sometimes the occasional oddball organized atheist who presumes that people who are at best insult comics and at worst outright neo-fascists must be heroic if they target religions, preferably those of minorities deemed non-European. To their credit, most Europeans handled things like the Breivik shooting far more professionally and with less running gamuts of hyper-emotional rhetoric that leads to nothing constructive the way the USA does whenever the usual shooting proves truly spectacular in choice of targets.

I would amend it to 'conservative/right wing' Europeans.

"The NATO charter clearly says that any attack on a NATO member shall be treated, by all members, as an attack against all. So that means that, if we attack Greenland, we'll be obligated to go to war against ... ourselves! Gee, that's scary. You really don't want to go to war with the United States. They're insane!"
