Paying the bills. Especially when I have to wait in long lines. I wish more bills could be paid online.

Which bills do you have to wait in lines for?

Absolutely. This might not make sense to those where, at worst, paying utilities means mailing a check instead of making a deposit at the bank then taking the receipt to the utility's office.

Being the backwater of a country that we are, cash terminals have only been introduced here in the recent couple of years, and they're still available in very few places. Many people around here still pay their bills by going to the utility's office cashier desks.

I still think having a washing machine in my apartment is the greatest miracle ever, but being able to pay services online is right up there.

The last bill I had that couldn't be paid online was my rent for my old apartment; when I bought my house I set up autopay for the mortgage, and everything else is online! I love living in the future! :)

Our current apartment they took our routing number and they just take the rent when the rent is due. Kind of creepy. Since we make enough money its actually super convenient, but for people on a limited income, seems like that'd be kind of dangerous.

I always thought it was some anti-corruption effort. Of course, like most anti-corruption efforts, it's mostly aimed at creating an alternative that is so inconvenient that those who ask for further measures will shut up.

Nah, I suspect it's just being done as a form of socializing. There's no better place to exchange some gossip and cooking recipes than the line at the cashier desk. You take a folding chair and a newspaper with crosswords, you sit there at the line, and you listen to people gossiping. CLASSIC!

Yep, I'm sure there's some chick out there whose reading this on her mobile phone while hauling water and wondering why we're complaining about having to go pay once a month to get running water... we don't even have to walk there.

Repairs: I hate when those drawers start breaking down, grrr. >:-O

Our TV commercials are horrible, in that the sound volume automatically gets a notch up whenever they're on. There've been some calls for regulating that down to the normal noise levels, but that still hasn't happened. It's very annoying.

Can't wait for my lad to grow up enough to start bringing homeworks from school. There are gaps in my early edjukashunn that need filling. ;-)

Don't be so excited. Every goddamn time they bring some new project home I think "Wait, wtf, you're in middle school and you're doing THIS? I didn't learn about this crap till I was in college."

Then, like every other generation, ever, they'll look at you like you're stupid.

Maths isn't even done in the same way as when I was a kid. Maths! They changed Maths! I had to teach it and I was all "WTF is going on here???"

Each of these activities could actually be a lot of fun. Well, maybe except for the commercials.

Folding and ironing is part of "Laundry" as far as I'm concerned, and combined "laundry day" is by far the most tedious part of my week.

I actually enjoy doing repairs.

A close second for me behind cleaning the floors, of course, I don't iron.

While laundry is a detested chore in my house, talking on the phone with my mom requires large blocks of time with me going, "uh-huh, yes, mmm, that's nice" as she tells me every single detail of the most recent events, including the percentage of discount on her shopping trip and the argument she had with my uncle about his fake houseplant.

Add "drunkenly" to this and that's pretty much why I don't answer her phone calls anymore.

I introduced my parents to text messages and facebook. We all hate the phone, I'd be lucky to speak to them on the phone once a year.

Skype is too much like the phone in that it requires your undivided attention (unless you use it like my partner and I when we were living at opposite ends of the continent, we just has it always on and went about our every day life, kinda like being in the house together). Text based communication is where it's at, I'll be talking to mum all the time now, but we may only actually say something once an hour or less.

These things aren't necessarily boring, as long as something is accomplished. TV commercials aren't work! They are a reason not to watch TV. Anything that is doable is worth doing, which is why I called repairs the most boring as a particular repair job may fail and bring frustration and repetition instead of accomplishment.

Cleaning the floors. We have a dog, fairly large, open house and 5 people living here. It takes over two hours and has to be done weekly, and three of the people in the house don't do it :/
