From The Wichita Eagle Representatives from Kansans for Life, Operation Rescue, Word of Life Church and the Kansas Coalition for Life want to prevent the South Wind Women’s Center from performing abortions at the site of George Tiller’s former clinic at 5107 E. Kellogg Drive.

In a Monday afternoon news release, the groups cited several gun incidents at the site during Tiller’s years at the clinic, the unwillingness of South Wind’s security to communicate with them to “defuse violence” before it occurs and the antagonism of South Wind escorts toward anti-abortion demonstrators.

In addition, the groups say it is inappropriate for schoolchildren to see the protests and graphic signs associated with a clinic performing abortions.

Blaming the victim recently hit new heights in Wichita when an anti-abortion group began citing its own behavior -- harassment that requires escorts, threats of violence, and the waving of graphic signs -- as a reason for the clinic being a "nuisance" that should be shut down. This is reasoning along the lines of that guy a few years ago who considered himself very hard done by when his finger was bitten off while he was punching someone repeatedly in the face. It's like guys who say "She was wearing provocative clothing! How could I help myself from raping her?"

Are anti-abortion protestors truly not responsible for their own actions?

"Personal responsibility" means starving to death because of racial discrimination. It does not mean being held accountable for violence against rational health care.

Well, they're doing God's Work, and somewhere along the line, evangelical christians lost their interest in free will, so...

There's a pervasive subset of Christianity that interprets free will as having the choice to obey all the weird rules or else, go to the burning place.

It was a point of contention a lot. Not the only cause for the breakup, but part of it.

That's why we call him God the Father, he likes to give offers we couldn't refuse.

"You don't even think to call me Jehovah."

I now hear this entire monologue in the voice of Zach Galifianakis.

Yeah, kinda like the drunk who loses a child after he smashes his car into a tree, then demands the removal of those dangerous, insidious trees.

Accidents happen - who among us hasn't unknowingly and uncontrollably held a poster of a dead baby above our head and stood in the same spot for hours?

Seriously though - this strategy looks beyond stupid as long as the city council they're petitioning rejects their request. Unfortunately, it will look beyond brilliant if they don't....

A couple years a group of people accidentally drove through our campus with moving trucks plastered with it.

Felt sorry for them, must have been real embarrassing not knowing they had dead baby all over their trucks. - DQ nomination only if it can be used out of context.

Reminds me of the argument that homosexuality is detrimental to society because it attracts hate crimes.

Reminds me of the argument that people of color are detrimental to society because they tend to attract police oppression.

DAILY QUOTE:
"The NATO charter clearly says that any attack on a NATO member shall be treated, by all members, as an attack against all. So that means that, if we attack Greenland, we'll be obligated to go to war against ... ourselves! Gee, that's scary. You really don't want to go to war with the United States. They're insane!"
