So not only has a man who was a source in the story that broke this program eight years ago come forward, he's noted that the Government was spying on a then-state Senator who now has his residential address at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. I do wonder if Obama was the only Democratic state senator the Government was spying on at the time. I also wonder whether or not the people who consider it a good thing to have the government illegally snooping would excuse it in this case, and how many people who approve of it in the name of security will consider the Feds spying on state senators to be justifiable in the name of security.

Personally, this kind of thing is why I think that the real issue all along was illegal spying on people. Nothing says that the government ever spies only on who it admits to spying on. Spies lie all the time. It's part of the business. There's sensible paranoia, and there's the 'Lizardmen are sending radio waves into my brain' variety. Sensible paranoia is to assume that people who snoop for a living never tell you the truth when they admit to who they're spying on. After all, you can bet their fellow intelligence agencies don't believe a word of it. I also think that this is just a sign of business as usual. The government has tended to spy on black people more continuously than it does on white people.

I believe him when he says he didn't vote for Obama, but when you hate one "team" so vehemently in what is essentially a two horse race, you are just about always pulling for the other team. My money says he doesn't live in a battle ground state and there was little to no chance a vote for Obama would help Romney lose.
And besides, when you scream like a little girl when Obama wins... ya, your bias is showing.

Oh absolutely. I'm sure he lives in a state that was solidly Obama both times. He didn't have to worry about Obama losing, so he could vote third party and proudly state he didn't. Like it really matters whether he voted for him or not, his cheerleading is enough to show his real interests.

does that mean all the democrats who were so opposed to this kind of thing under bush but don't care now that obama is in charge (including obama himself) are racists too?

No, everyone didn't know for years. In fact, those who made such claims were called paranoid and conspiracy theorists and made fun of. Snowden just proved them all to be sane, and that's what really pisses some people off.

All the republicans who had no problem with this shit still have no problem with it. But there's plenty of democrats who complained about Bush doing things like this who are now perfectly fine with Obama doing much worse than Bush did.

I personally don't know any, but perhaps those democrats who are ok with Obama doing it are ok because they realize that Obama is a far more reasonable person than Bush.

That being said, many republicans who were find with it under Bush have huge problems because it's Obama, and there's not a lot of question why.

I wouldn't be surprised if it's an attempt to make this not be an "Obama scandal," since he was a victim of it as well.
