It's one thing to see this from insane Beck commenters, but another to see it from Romney himself. This call was to donors and you could say he had the incentive to say things like this, but if the higher ups in the Republican party honestly believe the "Obama won because he's giving away free stuff to blacks and latinos" line, we're going to see a Democrat in the White House in 2016.

Because 1) all Hispanics are sympathetic to illegal immigrants. No Hispanics are members of the GOP or back any kind of restrictions on illegal immigrants, and 2) all Hispanics think alike, right? A Cuban is a Guatemalan is an Argentine, so why bother noting that maybe they might vote differently based on that regard? Naw, them Lah-teen-ohs should be bashed on cheap demographic-based populist appeal.

I would have thought you were too intelligent to try and make a correlation with that, but obviously I was wrong.

(By the way, most of the conservative pundits I have heard, think his assessment is wrong, and since the voter turnout was actually lower this time in "targeted" groups he probably is wrong. I admit that my initial reaction (given how "we" voted in Ca.) ran very much along those lines....I am currently reassessing)

Okaaay. So a candidate offered the majority of the American people things they like, as in, some hope for access to healthcare and an approach to dealing with the economy that doesn't seem to involve making things tougher for people who are already struggling. And those selfish bastards voted for that candidate! Just because he promised to make their lives better! Bribery, I tell you!

See, the appropriate response from those of us not part of the 1% is a zen-like acceptance of the fact that many of us are going to have to work possibly over 40 hours a week for the rest of our lives (forget retirement) in order to merely survive. We just need to understand that little sacrifices like getting very, very sick, much sicker than we would if we could actually afford a physician, becoming disabled,and possibly even dying prematurely are all a part of supporting "job creators" right to build fabulous mansions with moats and car elevators.

I mean, really, food, shelter, clothing, it's all so sordidly materialistic. Shouldn't those of us in the 99% think of higher, purer things when we vote for a candidate?
