This whiteboard animation shows what happened when Hitler lied to get elected and people don't care or pay attention to the lies of their leaders, until they do care...and at that point, it is too late. Parts of this video are narrated by a man who served as a German soldier and a German woman who lived right by the railroad tracks the cattle trains ran on that carried the Jews to their deaths.

If you watch this video and think that it's talking about "the other guy" and not your candidate, think again. Where do you think we are on the civilization cycle (around 5:20)? I think we're well into the apathy stage (as amply demonstrated on this very community time and again) if not dependence, and getting pretty close to getting back into the bondage stage. So, are you going to stay complacent, or actually do something besides make fun of others?

Of course it's general. The examples are that there's only a few examples of them not being apathetic, and the rest of the time they are. It's the default condition. Look at how many people are members of this group and don't comment on anything. Look at the people who do comment and say that they don't care or that it doesn't affect them or that's just how it is or anything similar to that. Then realize that this is a group of people who are more interested in doing something than the general population and there's still a large portion of people who are that way. I look at my Facebook and my wife's Facebook and see that 90% of the people that respond to any political type of posting do so apathetically. And that's just the 15% or so that respond at all (I'm not putting much weight on that though, for various reasons). Look at comments to political news stories all over and you'll see the same thing.

I don't think you could judge about people's involvement in politics IRL by their activity on LJ. There can be many reasons why an LJ account could be inactive, including, possibly, being busy IRL.

Facebook is another story, compared to LJ. Many LJ accounts are now dormant, people have moved to other places online, including Facebook. This has nothing to do with their activeness or inactiveness.

I was hoping that your examples would be from the real life.

I don't know what would satisfy you there. I summarized my experiences, that most people I encounter are generally apathetic.
