I've looked into the List of Governors of Georgia and drew attention to the party affiliation of the governors: our state had been traditionally Democratic from 1872 till 2003. To me it is an indication America is slipping into socialism and losing its roots. I think who was a former Democrat is now considered a Republican, but Democrats are becoming socialists.
Personal circumstances influence on democratic or republican beliefs. The psychologist Jonathan Haidt explains it very clearly.
Socialism is dangerous with its conditions for loss of morality. In today's America, I notice a lot of what was common in the Soviet Union. This is an unsafe phenomenon that is gradually promoting the dissipation of moral roots originating from religion and the basic constitutional principles.
Some signs of immorality:
- Personal irresponsibility of the country's leader - 90% of the Deficit is Somebody Else's Fault
- The withholding of information about what happened in Benghazi
- The lies to please the electoral campaign - Obama will have "more flexibility" to deal with contentious issues like missile defense after the U.S. presidential election, the Obama administration to offer to cover legal fees in compensation challenges violating federal law
- The example of the country's leader making fun of Fox News in his campaign speeches was followed by his supporters. I've met entirely inadequate comments on this. Only lazy guys have not shamed and gave advice what should I actually watch, listen and read. Here is no tolerance to a particular point of view. If would they only explained their opinion! But no, they've acted on principle - not looking, but condemning. It is amazing how people who have grown up in a free country are able to behave like the Soviet people, who had actively involved in the persecution of dissenters that the Communist Party organized.
- Perhaps the reason is the passing electoral campaign but it is indicative of aggressiveness of liberals who do not share other's views and how dangerous it is to be indifferent to the apparent evidences of their country’s disrespect.
America is leaning dangerously to the left.

The end of the Solid South was due to the successful conclusion of the Southern Strategy. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Southern_strategy)
but Democrats are becoming socialist
The truth of that statement depends on whether you are defining socialism by a conservative American viewpoint, or by the definition used by political science and the political world outside of the USA. By the latter, no. By the former, yes.
In today's America, I notice a lot of what was common in the Soviet Union.
Really. We have a Politburo, a KGB, and no free elections? All industry is owned and operated by the state? Private property rights are outlawed and all property is owned by the state? Your job is determined by the state?
Strange. I seem to have missed these things. I guess I have been too busy working.
Personal irresponsibility of the country's leader - 90% of the Deficit is Somebody Else's Fault
The deficit is the responsibility of Congress, not the Presidency, to fix. And not just one party or other in Congress; all of Congress. I'll hold Obama responsible for the deficit once he vetoes a budget bill that solves it, just as I would any other President.
The withholding of information about what happened in Benghazi
I personally think any information on the incident should remain classified until the War on Terror is concluded, so we must disagree on this.
The lies to please the electoral campaign - Obama will have "more flexibility" to deal with contentious issues like missile defense after the U.S. presidential election, the Obama administration to offer to cover legal fees in compensation challenges violating federal law
Obama will have more flexibility to deal with contentious issues after the election, though, assuming he wins. The Democratic Party is not going to throw their weight behind him previous to the election. That would sour deal-making possibilities and be politically stupid.
As for the offer to cover legal fees, there's nothing that violates the law in doing so. The Labor Department has the legal ability to do that, irrespective of our opinions on doing it. To wit: there's no law AGAINST it, so there's no law to violate.
The example of the country's leader making fun of Fox News in his campaign speeches was followed by his supporters
You obviously haven't been in this country long, so let me introduce you to one of the traditions of free speech in the USA. We make fun of things here. Unlike the Russians, we don't get put in gulags for it.
Here is no tolerance to a particular point of view
There is no requirement for tolerance. I am a free citizen; others are free citizens. We are as tolerant as we wish to be or as intolerant as we wish to be. That is what freedom is all about.
If would they only explained their opinion!
No one is required to provide you any explanations whatsoever.
But no, they've acted on principle - not looking, but condemning.
It is their right to do so.
It is amazing how people who have grown up in a free country are able to behave like the Soviet people, who had actively involved in the persecution of dissenters that the Communist Party organized.
This is an inept analogy. You are comparing the free choice of American citizens to criticize or mock you with the KGB and gulags? So these American citizens have the power of government behind them?
Oh wait, they do not. Your analogy fails.
Perhaps the reason is the passing electoral campaign but it is indicative of aggressiveness of liberals who do not share other's views and how dangerous it is to be indifferent to the apparent evidences of their country’s disrespect.
It is our right as free American citizens to be respectful or disrespectful as we choose.

^What do you think was common in the USSR that is happening in the USA now? I demand absolutely specific references. Do we have giant Freudian parades of weapons? Do we have a monolithic one-party dictatorship reliant on a secret police with vast slave labor camps to sustain itself? Do we have political parties seeking to be in every single aspect of life? Do we have people lining up in lines that stretch around for blocks waiting for a loaf of bread while heavy industry is doing just fine? Do US Presidents wear so many medals you wonder why they don't fall over or their clothes sag from the weight?

Date: 6/10/12 05:30 (UTC)Socialism failed everywhere but in Scandinavia. But despite high taxes and famous welfare services they are essntially capitalist countries with low levels of regulation, nationalization and no protectionism.
I may be wrong or I've read too much libertarians, but socialism, in the sence of active interference in people's life by the government, seem to me to be really dangerous.
On the other hand, I'm probably ignorant about the situation in the US but it seems to me that Obama inhirited 99% of problems and there is no reasonable possibility to solve them all in a short term.

Date: 6/10/12 06:20 (UTC)Socialism is the public ownership of a factor of production.
This includes state companies, statutory authorities, and worker's cooperatives.
The former two are especially good at providing infrastructure with positive externalities, or limiting the effects of negative externalities (e.g., Pigouvian taxes).
The latter two in particular are quite successful business models. For example, just a few days ago it was shown that Employee-owned firms' shares outstrip FTSE companies (www.personneltoday.com/Articles/01/10/2012/58871/Employee-owned-firms39-shares-outstrip-FTSE-companies.htm).
As with most things, it's horses for courses. You use a particular business model appropriate to the circumstances.

The right has been pushing further into radicalism, and the left is trying to follow it there, for the sake of "fairness". The upside of this being that it engulfs more and more segments of society in the process, ones which weren't in its camp before. The downside is that it doesn't even realize that.
