At least a game doesn't last for 4 hours, out of which 3 hours is commercials. ;-)

Pfft, baseball is the game that drags to 4 hours, the NFL keeps things pretty tight, even with all those damn tv commercial breaks. But I think the main thing is that Americans like scoring, and failing that, some gratuitous violence.
