You nominated your books and voted for a general nonfiction title, so here we go:

[Poll #1801127]

It turns out that LJ limits the number of choices you can have now, and, to help facilitate a bit, I left out some of the repeat-idea ones (four books, for instances, were psychology/choice type titles, so I went with ones that were seconded) and I left off obvious textbooky ones, only because this should be more fun for people than a chore (no offense to those of you (like me) who enjoy a drier read from time to time). In the future, we'll find a better way to do nominations for books to narrow things down a little better, but this is a pretty diverse crop of stuff to try for the first go 'round.

Poll will close Friday morning.

I'm trying to find the article, but the Jack Kennedy book has been criticized for taking rather large liberties with historical accuracy.

There seems to be a clear favorite - no surprise, the result looks pretty Americentric. :)

Blah.

Everyone will pretend they are reading it.

Everyone will be cribbing the Wikipedia articles.

I vote for PJ O'Rourke's book.

Yes, I suspect he will surprise some wannabe founders...

Maybe there will be a sainthood nomination for Mr Burr.

Most of these sound very interesting - hard to pick...

For future reference, LJ limits the number of choices to 255, not 15 - you just need to edit the <lj-poll> code manually instead of using the poll creator. (This has been a known bug for only about 9 years, can't expect it to be fixed that quickly...)

Three nominations?

Whichever book wins the poll, I'm elated I won the brainstorming session.

"The NATO charter clearly says that any attack on a NATO member shall be treated, by all members, as an attack against all. So that means that, if we attack Greenland, we'll be obligated to go to war against ... ourselves! Gee, that's scary. You really don't want to go to war with the United States. They're insane!"
