Hmm, got next to no coverage.

Except by Stewart.

Lots of coverage back in 2009 of conservative commentators flexing their "science" muscles though about how climate change wasn't real. Well done, media. No wonder the public is so ignorant on this and other topics. When matters of science are presented as political debates instead of science, that contributes to the dumbing down of the populace.

The Koch brothers backed study got practically the same results as so-called "Climategate" scientists and other studies have.

The point:

In part, this counters the accusation made during "Climategate" that climate scientists formed a tight clique who peer-reviewed each other's papers and made sure their own global warming narrative was the only one making it into print.

But for Richard Muller, this free circulation also marks a return to how science should be done.

"That is the way I practised science for decades; it was the way everyone practised it until some magazines - particularly Science and Nature - forbade it," he said.

I'm willing at this point to concede that the global temperature has grown more than I initially thought. That still doesn't change my opinion that climatologists are over-estimating the predicted changes, which has been shown in the past with almost all estimates reliably coming in at the far low end. GW simply isn't a major problem. Much less whether or not AGW is a major driver of GW. Deforestation, hunger, and energy production are much more pressing than climate change when you get down to it.

It's journalistic objectivity vs. balanced reporting, and the fight among mass communication professionals isn't over yet. In an attempt to be "fair" and "balanced", that group offers every side their turn on the soapbox. So, global warming gets to be debated by not only the undeniably larger number of scientists who present ample evidence of it - we also get to hear from: (a) businesses whose bottom line suffers if they have to adjust their practices, (b) politicians who get donations from those businesses, (c) the smaller group of scientists who still need more evidence, and (d) wackos.

If the debate over evolution and creationism has gone on this long, this particular argument could last till there are water taxis plying their trade in Wall Street.

The other side has played out the clock, science has been warning about this since the 1950s (a lot of it came ironically from heat exchange research in development of heat seeking missile technology and ICBM missile development by the defense industry), despite all the crap talk about global cooling in the late 1970s "by scientists."

I've always admired the ability of deniers to simultaneously disagree with science while wholeheartedly agreeing with one or two reports. It's an amazing bit of psychological trickery.
