So today was a major turning point in demands of a new deficit plan. President Obama told the world today that he is sick of the GOPs' games and rhetoric. He wants a plan, and wants it now. Who could blame him? They continue to talk about how bad this country needs to get back on track and put a new plan in place, yet they never come up with anything that is equal and reasonable on both sides.

Speaking from a bit of a moderate standpoint, I can see where the raising of taxes is going to be a bit of a problem in the eyes of most Americans', yet how do you fix a system DEPENDENT on the almighty "Amero" (American Dollar) without raising the funding to get the job done? That makes no sense, and to be unreasonable about it and to draw it out like Washington is, is completely unreasonable.

Basically, I like how he's pushing the GOP to actually take action and do something about the debt situation here in the country. We'll see if it has to get to an all out verbal war of words before anything gets done.

God Bless America!

"...how do you fix a system DEPENDENT on the almighty "Amero" (American Dollar) without raising the funding to get the job done?"

Retrain the system to do less... with less.

Retrain the populace to expect less.

Yes, let's start by taking the fiscal conservatives at their word and ending all Federal money used in the states which take more from the Federal government than they pay into it. If their ideology works, those states will be paradise. If they don't....Texas does do that so I can simply move there and let fate do what it will.

Obama raised the deficit more than Bush did.

He was only sneakier and more stealthy about it.

To all intents and purposes the democrats and republicans are both engaging in the processes of waste, neglect and fraud the democrats are only being more discreet and less blatant about it.

Why is it important you blame POTUS X and not POTUS Y?

You'll never see a plan from the Republicans, nor will you receive a clear explanation as to how cutting taxes solves the problem of the government having massive deficits or raises national prosperity. The Bush Tax Cuts have endured for several years now, and the glorious prosperity they are supposed to create has been measured on the balance scales and found wanting. Nor are you likely to hear from economic conservatives how banning homosexuals from marrying or the right of Muslims to practice their religion freely halves or completely erases economic problems. Nor also are you likely to hear why creating the Department of Homeland Security, the government listening to people's phones without warrants or accountability, and using secret prisons to torture people are *not* government tyranny, but greater healthcare access for US citizens *is*.

The Democratically controlled Senate still hasn't voted on the 2012 budget and Majority Leader Reid has no plans to do so. President Obama's plan, put forward in a recent speech characterized by some in the media as "awesomesauce," nevertheless cannot be scored by the CBO, since it has no actual substance. Meanwhile, Paul Ryan and the House GOP have put forward a plan and passed it. That is the plan Obama is asking for. Obama just doesn't like it. What Obama is saying here is "the GOP should put forward a budget plan the conforms with my wishes." And who is supposed to be playing games here?

This. Both parties had negociations effectively sabotaged before they had even begun.

Republicans sabotaged it by putting medicare, education and similar cuts on the table and refusing to compromise.

Democrats sabotaged it by being inflexible and unwilling to compromise even as they criticized republicans of the same.

Its all a joke.

Paul Ryan and the House GOP put forward a plan that they knew would never fly with Democrats. The Democrats have negotiated a couple trillion in spending cuts already, but now we're at the point where tax/revenue hikes are called for and the Republicans are crying foul.

Compromise, Democrat version: Sure, we'll compromise. We knew we were going to get blown out of the water in the 2010 midterms, and we didn't want to further anger a country that was in an anti-government mood and thus lose even more seats, so we kicked the can down the road for you guys to deal with, knowing that you'd be the unpopular ones for cutting old people's healthcare coverage, and we'll get to obstruct you with most things anyway because we still control the Senate. Bwahaha!

Compromise, Republican version: Sure, we'll compromise. We demand all manner of petty, stupid nonsense in order to throw some red meat to our base, and you accede to all our demands. That's fair!

Both sides are full of s#@t with this, and both sides claim that the other is being mean and nasty and obstructive, and neither ones really cares how these pathetic excuses for "dealing" affects the common people they purport to represent.

It's getting rather tiring that all we've got at this point is just talking point rhetoric about fixing the problems.

Republicans propose something, they then get ridiculed and told to come up with a plan. No actual debate about the merits ever occur. It's just written off as silly and not really a plan.

So why actually even do anything at this point when "all options on the table" doesn't mean what it actually means?
